Now, Afghan allies are in a complicated position because the Taliban won't allow them through to the airport without the proper paperwork. The fact is we didn't NEED to spread our troops thin to have the ability to bomb. We had done it before.

Baghram is 45 miles from Kabul. It's not "far" at all! We needed to hold onto it for two reasons...the first is that it would have been a secure base to evacuate people out of Afghanistan...the second is we needed it to provide air cover to the Afghan military so they WOULDN'T turn tail and run from the Taliban!
