These are 7 year old girls for crying out loud!

And the liberal portion of our laws protect the perverts. We cater to minorities at the expense of the majority.
I don't know any liberals who advocate the behavior of minorities. I know a LOT of brain-dead lefties that DO.
Since when were so concerned with by-definition "Rights" that pederants were acceptable? Pedophiles are a waste of natural resources.
Lead's a natural resource and should be summarily introduced into the cranium of pedophiles. Yet, our society protects them.

Yes and ill help you string them all up and burn them to hell! But what does any of that have to do with the girl in a dance competition?

MY comment is clear. The dress and the provocative dance is inappropriate for7 years olds.

Who created the competition and why does it exist?

You don't care about your children. You care about YOU. You put YOUR beliefs ahead of what is best for your children and what is best for our society.

Sorry...this style of dancing and those costumes are not appropriate for children of their age, period.

Many of the dance moves they were doing were created specifically to either a) simulate various sex acts or b) draw attention to their asses or chests in a sexual way.

Do I think the children knew that? Absolutely not. Do I think their dance teachers and parents should have known that and put a stop to it? Abso-freakin-loutely.

Why can't we let children act like children? Why can't the adults in their lives showcase their amazing talent (and the children are amazing dancers, to be sure) without dressing them up like sluts at the worst, or miniature women dressed to impress men at best?

It doesn't matter that no one in the audience was looking at them in a sexualized way...the bottom line is that what they were simulating, emulating WAS sexual. Why would we encourage 7 year olds to emulate something they are far too young to understand? Whats next - maybe next year they can get some of the boys in their class and grind on them for awhile...after all, its just dancing.

The parents and instructors of these children should be embarrassed. They have remarkable, talented young girls in front of them...and rather than celebrating how talented they are at THEIR AGE...all the adults can do is dress them up like ADULT celebrities and teach them to shake their asses for applause.

What is "Best for Our Society" is to allow individuals the freedom to decide for themselves what sleeze is.

I wouldn't want MY 7 year old daughter undulating in a bikini to Beyonce, but, if someone else wants to have their kid do it, then I'll not object. There's a gap between "sexualization" and "porn."

These girls are 7 friggin' years old. Barely past the age of becoming aware that picking their noses and rolling the boogers into lil' balls just isn't cool.

And here we have an instructor and parents thinking it's just fine to have them dance like future strippers. The only thing missing is the pole.

It's fucking disgusting!

My daughter would not be part of such a thing. I think it is always disgusting how parents parade their children around performing tricks for attention, like a dog show.

So very disappointing to know that so many people are cool with that. My Mom tried to put me in beauty pageants as a child, I fought her tooth and nail. I always thought they were shallow and harmful to the children.

Get them piano or violin lessons for goodness sakes. That will teach them class as well as helps them to use their brains and their hearts

At 7 years old, a child is not capable of making good decisions

thank you.

And you make my point as well. These girls are not at an event to draw perverts. They are a a national dance contest to compete with other dancers. The perverts come to them.

You can have perverts at a swim meet, play ground, sitting in the living room across the street from your house. Its not what the children are doing its what the fuckers are doing!

You're right, of course. They can be anywhere. But at the swim meet, the playground, sitting in the living room these kids aren't going to be in full makeup and heels gyrating to Beyonce. Whatever sexualization there is, is completely in the mind of the perv. Why make them look adult and give that sexualization even the slightest hint of legitimacy?

That doesn't even touch the issue of teaching these girls that sex sells, that their bodies are tools to get adult approval in the form of applause and a trophy, or any of the other issues that go with it. Girls have a hard enough time with their bodies and sexuality. Why confuse them?

So they will be like the rest of Americans ?

Sad, but good point.

It is very sad, that children can no longer have a childhood

Absolutely true.

What I meant by "individuals" was Adult Individuals.

That's pretty much my point, or a big part of it anyway. Thanks for putting it that way. Sad, but that tiny minority are the people you have to worry about. The problem I have isn't with the dancing per se, or with the playing dress up. It's with parading them onstage at events that will draw the perverts. That, and the general objectification by adults they have to go to such lengths to please. They're too young to put it all in perspective, and at that age they aren't exactly in control of their own choices.

thank you.

Why do people on this site always insist they know lots of the "worst" people? Are those the people they "hang out with"?

It seems that many "adult" individuals are also incapable of making good decisions concerning their children. They treat them like play things, that they buy off

too many variables involved but I'd like to thank EZ for kicking things off for us tonight.

Was it the "brain-dead" or the "lefties" part that hurt you the most?

I have twin 9 year old girls. Like my wife, they are absolutely gorgeous. I could NEVER imagine allowing them to dress or dance like those girls. But then, they would NEVER even think of dressing or dancing that way. It's all in how they are being raised. They are being raised with morals and self respect.

Whenever I see a story or documentary on the Jon Benet Ramsey case, it makes me sick to my stomach to see how her parents exploited her natural beauty. And for what?....Bragging rights?

Sadly many parents have lowered their standards.

My Dad may have been like an Army Seargent, but I am glad he was strict. It has only served to help my life and decision making process

My seven year old loves to dance, and she's beautiful. She has Christina Aguilera's moves from Genie in a Bottle down.

It's dance. Dance is always suggestive, unless it's clogging or square dancing, that's the nature of it.

The girls are really good. The outfits are a little skimpy, but so are swim suits and the leotards gymnasts wear that essentially are second skins and do nothing to actually cover the body.

It's tough being a parent these days. There are so many things to worry about. I try to be leniant as possible, but it gets tougher by the day. There are so many negative influences out there. Christ, my parents never had to worry about us sneaking down in the middle of the night, turning on the TV, and lo and behold there was a "Girls gone wild" promo. That happened to us just a few months ago. Our daughters were going, "oooooooh, those girls are kissing, that's gross!......Of course, then we had some serious explaining to do. Now we unhook the satellite feed every night before bed to ensure it doesn't happen again

Morals in this country are going straight down the friggin' tubes!

Really Gunny? And where in any of my posts do I say that I have put children in this position?

I say that I understand the requirements to win. I understand the pressure they are under. I say very clearly that it is the parents and the teachers who pushed this program..and won. What I do say is that these girls preformed to industry standard.

That is entirely different then pushing any beliefs on anyone.

Ever see the tears on little boys faces at little league game when their parents are screaming at them for loosing? I understand the pressure of major league and world class players to use steroids, that doesn't mean I approve or advocate it.

I would suggest you read my posts. :)
