It used to be that this republic had a few completely rational requirements relative to immigrants seeking to get Green Cards and then, perhaps, even citizenship. One of those completely rational requirements was that the immigrant must be able to demonstrate that he or she would not become a burden on the rest of us.

But now? Even if the get our largess in the form of free food and free medical care, this Administration chooses to have those facts ignored. I don’t understand how the Executive Branch has the legal authority to change our laws like that absent explicit Congressional approval.

They do not. They are doing it hoping no one will challenge them in court. Biden is a criminal that needs to be put in prison along with the rest of his criminal cabal.

Here is what Congress said:

(4) Public charge (A) In general
Any alien who, in the opinion of the con- sular officer at the time of application for a visa, or in the opinion of the Attorney Gen- eral at the time of application for admission or adjustment of status, is likely at any time to become a public charge is inadmissible

There is a long convoluted history involved, no question. But the “administrative” so-called “interpretations” of the LAW still don’t provide the Administration the legal authority to effectively re-write the law. But that is precisely what this new Biden Administration “rule” is doing.

The new rule seeks to “clarify” some prior interpretations and reinterpretations. But this new one goes beyond those considerations. Properly read, the law says that where, in the opinion of the AG, the immigrant is “likely at any time to become a public charge” that immigrant is inadmissible. But with Brandon’s new rule, even presently accepting SNAP and Medicare benefits cannot be considered in the AG’s “opinion” of whether that immigrant is “likely” to become a public charge.

Likely to become?? He or she already IS.

THIS NEW ADMINISTRATIVE “rule” thereby nullifies the very law, which the Executive Branch has no Constitutional authority to do.

I remember a decade ago getting into arguments with USMB members who said that Obama didn't create Obamacare and then fill it with illegal immigrants. They swore on stack of Korans that they weren't giving them free healthcare.

Now not only are they giving them free healthcare but free rides to the destination of their choice and putting them up in hotels and giving them pink government checks for them to use to buy groceries.
