This is the hill we must be willing to die on...

...if Trump loses this battle for the wall, he loses all credibility, and will not be re-elected in 2020.

We must support him on this, even if it means the federal government is shut down for many months.

If Trump signs "temporary funding" bills that don't include funding for a wall, that's a surrender so he can't agree to that.

I'm afraid the Democrats will be equally determined, because they've staked everything on their opposition to the wall, and if they back down, they lose all credibility.

I don't see how a compromise is possible.

It's not about Trump...

If we don't have the wall, we won't have a nation. Everyone knows what that means.
Have we got the money from Mexico yet?

  • House Intelligence Committee Chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) made it clear when he was in the minority that he wanted to open a more aggressive Russia investigation.
  • House Ways and Means Chair Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA) could well try to get Trump’s tax returns.
  • House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) could investigate Trump’s Saudi Arabia policy in the wake of Jamal Khashoggi’s murder.
  • House Judiciary Committee Chair Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) will be on the lookout for inappropriate interference with the Justice Department.

You might want to think about what a coup means, and what the reaction will be.
Name calling on social media.

The dems will pass two Bills on Thursday, one to fund everything left but DHS for one year, and a CR for DHS to 8Feb19, with zero funding for the wall. Trump will say "unacceptable" and we will be right back here at stalemate come Friday.
Both sides need to compromise or the partial shutdown will become permanent...

trump owns this.
Whoever refuses to negotiate owns this. Right now the dems are less willing to compromise than Trump. Bottom line, it doesn't fucking matter who "owns" this, its no way to run a government. If Trump shuts down the government for 2-years he won't lose one GOP voter.

oh i agree 100% that this is no way to run a gov'ment. but trump shoulda thought of that when there was a bipartison agreement to keep the gov'ment going... that is until some rw whackjobs whispered in donny's ear & he couldn't take the heat.
The last agreement that meant anything was a year ago, and nothing since has been worth shit, imo. These continuing resolutions are unconscionable. It is past time they stopped kicking the can down the road. It's not like it's a big surprise the deadline is approaching. They are being lazy. Sticking their nose into too many committee investigations, pretending to be big whigs.

not a chance.

I agree that it’s unlikely Trump will actually carry it out correctly to get the full benefits from the opportunity, but when you realize what this could lead to if it continues long enough, he could solidify his Conservative and Alt-Right base to a point that even impeachment might not be enough to say those votes against him.

if mueller has undeniable hardcore proof such as hard copy docs or actually tapes that cohen has or that flynn may have been wired...

then there will be no turning back & the senate (R)s will have to come on board with a trial.

Trump's New Jersey golf club accused of giving fake green cards, Social Security numbers to undocumented employees

Morales told the New York Times that she recalls the golf club hired many illegal workers. She said she and Diaz came forward because they were “tired of the abuse, the insults, the way he talks about us when he knows that we are helping him make money. We sweat it out to attend to his every need and have to put up with his humiliation

Goldilocks just thought he was being investigated.

With all those investigations how will they do what they were elected to do, namely the nation's business?

Do they even care?

Did the republicans?

All of a sudden House investigations are dreadful and an impediment to the business of the nation. That didn’t appear to be the case for the last six year. Why the sudden change of heart?
/----/ The more time democRATs waste on endless investigations, the less time they will have to take away our liberties and money.

General Brainspur can slobber on and on about his imaginary mexico funded wall, but if he believes it will keep the dems and Mueller off of his sorry ass he's batshit bonkers ..

ALL OF THEM. No, I don't agree with all the investigations the Dems are promising as soon as they take the House.

If the Republicans have got an immigration reform bill sitting around somewhere, they should bring it out and get started talking to the Dems about some middle ground. This cannot in good conscience continue to go on and on year after year. I'm furious at all of them, Playtime. This is not good service to our country.

It still won’t make a difference if Trump is able to shut this portion of the Government (and possibly more) down. Especially if he can (intentionally or not) stop Social Welfare payments.

Those Republicans would be ending their political careers and risking their physical health.

Trump screwed the pooch on healthcare by not having a plan to replace healthcare - now his big plan to replace a 30 foot wall that mexico is paying for is to build a steel slat fence that American taxpayer $$ pays for ... Republicans had control of congress, and Trump signing the check. They need to go find their own corner and cry all by themselves.

when the (R)s had the majority on all `the investigations... much info wasn't gathered. they let donny jr go without answering many of the (D)s questions... such as who it was that the blocked phone number called just b4 the trump tower meeting belonged to... roger stone & steve bannon refused to answer qustions & left with out (D)s questions being asked & answered.

the (D)s are actually going to do their jobs & find out the truth. why would you accept anything less? & if... IF anyone conspired with a foreign adversarial nation that fucked with our democratic process to duly & freely elect our leaders by the true will of the people... why would you let it slide?

we deserve better.

We could have the money from Mexico, India, and China if the DC coxuckers would do their fucking job. Here is one idea how to get wall funding from Foreigners, tax "remittances", which is money sent out of the US. A 2% tax on $138b is $1.7b a year, which would fund the wall and then make money.

I thought that was why we had Robert Mueller?
Why must Congress investigate the same things as the Special Counsel?
