Actually, it is different. When you donate to a political campaign, you are donating because you believe in the ideas that the particular candidate is pushing for. And, you know that you will receive nothing tangible from your donation, but you want to help them keep their campaign running.

We Build The Wall promised a tangible thing, and they said that it would last. Sadly, that isn't the case, as whoever engineered the damn thing didn't pay much attention to erosion, plus there is the fact that those who ran the place used most of the money to line their own pockets. People who donated to them expected to see something tangible for their money, not get ripped off by their fellow conservatives.
