VICE Special Report: Fixing the System | VICE on HBO

Let's try a little common sense, shall we.
In order to fix the system, we have to completely do away with circumstantial evidence cases, period. Next, we have to hold everyone to the same standards, no favoritism, and no free passes. Also, we have to never allow jailhouse snitches to testify in court. In addition, we must demand that a lawyer be present during any questioning of individuals taken into custody.

If an innocent person is sentenced to prison, and later be found innocent, the D.A. that prosecuted the case must serve an equal amount of time behind bars. No one should ever be convicted or sentenced, without hard rock solid undeniable proof of guilt. Anything less than the above, would NOT fix our corrupt judicial system. A person's wealth, social status, nor influence, should ever be a reason for a lighter sentence or fine. Everyone should be treated equally in a court of law, regardless of who that person may be.

Members of law enforcement, such as cops, should be held to the same laws and standards as everyone else, no exceptions. I would also include every single member of Congress, and the president. If we're going to have a judicial system, and have one that's fair across the board, then every single citizen should be judged equally under the law, no exceptions.

A crime is a crime, regardless of who may commit it. Catholic priest that molest and sexually assault children, should be tried in a court of law the same as anyone else would be if caught engaging in such horrible crimes. I'm tired of seeing favoritism and special treatment in our judicial system. It's time to correct centuries of injustice, and make justice actually mean justice. As it stands now, our judicial system is a joke, a cruel joke played on many citizens.
