This sure wont help OBAMA. Gas prices will be over 4.00 by spring

Food prices rise as dollar declines. Not because of tax credits enacted in 1979. :cuckoo: The VEETC was a credit for any blender of ethanol into the petroleum gasoline stream. It replaced a set of subsidies begun in 1979 for the federal tax exemption of gasoline blended with at least 10% ethanol (gasohol) by the Energy Tax Act. Fuel blender's tax credits and a pure alcohol tax credit were subsequently added, achieving roughly the same goals, but available to smaller fuel blenders that were unable to receive the excise tax exemption. The VEETC streamlined this system and provided a single mechanism for subsidizing ethanol use.

None of my links are from enviro-bloggers. :cuckoo:

Today the USA exports more Corn, DDG feed & Ethanol than it did 5, 10, 20 & 30 years ago. What f#@king corn was diverted from food processing? :cuckoo:

We have run our entire fleet on E85 for over 10 years now & never had one fuel related breakdown.

It is funny how you have no knowledge of the subject but have been thoroughly brainwashed by the media. :cuckoo: Just wait until Iran jacks oil prices 40% overnight & there is no gas for your tank!

You explain in brief the fact but conveniently forget to include the how and the why.
Back to work with you.
Nice try.
You still cannot get past the bottom line. Ethanol is DEAD...No one wants to use it. No company will invest in it. And the federal government wised up and canceled their yearly paycheck for it.
Now about that alternative fuel..Any ideas? Or are you convinced you have all the answers...
L-A-M-E.....Argument

You Lost The Argument SON! - The problem with stupid people is they just don't know how stupid they really are!

Notice how China's Corn Exports went to zero? At the same time US Corn Exports Grew!!! With all the weak US dollars flowing to China they decided it it was cheaper for them to buy USA corn than to buy their own. This is the only reason corn prices rose in US Dollar terms.

ORNL%20report%20corn%20exports_Page_15.jpg

Ahh yes. In the absence of facts, the last resort is to insult and impugn your opponent.
Corn exports? The subject matter is four dollar gas and Ethanol...
Can you please focus?
Now, about that alternative fuel source...you were saying?

Did anyone else notice he said China "decided it it was cheaper for them to buy USA corn than to buy their own" because Chinese exports fell in the chart? Because that's pretty obviously nonsense. It means that either a) Chinese domestic consumption increased, so they did use their own; or b) Chinese output fell.

Every time a Chinese person gets a job they can afford to start eating meat instead of a diet of mostly rice. It takes 10 calories worth of grain to feed animals to feed that same Chinese person 1 calorie worth of meat. That means every time a Chinese person starts eating meat they increase their consumption of grain by 10 fold. If we don't stop printing money we will have to start eating more rice & Roman Noodles instead of meat. We will also not be able to afford to fuel our cars. We will be riding bikes & eating rice like the Chinese used to & they will be driving everywhere & eating steak.

Am I to believe that you actually think Rush said something true? I thought he only uttered lies. Therefore, how can this be an accurate statement by your logic?

Ohhhhh that's right, the double standard double think rule. It's only true if it makes a short term political point now.
Hey dumbass, I was MOCKING your MessiahRushie's lie about Reagan sinking Iran's navy. :asshole:
One, he's not my 'messiah'. That job's been filled by someone else.

Two, he's not the devil as you seem to want desperately to believe.

Three, you got caught doing the double standard double think again. I'll alert Ted Koppel if he's not dead yet. The rest of us knew this about your MO with your terminal case of Rush Derangement Syndrome.

Gasoline prices had been falling for some time in response to the slowing world economy.

Until congress just let the ethanol tax credit expire at the first of the year.

So now you have to pay more taxes on your gasoline at the pump.

This also cut gasolines competition so gas prices will continue to rise.

This caused a price spike at the pump that took effect January 1, 2012. Enjoy the higher prices.

USA Today: End of ethanol subsidy could raise gas prices for 2012

.

Horse shit..That story is a bunch of hooey.
Ethanol(E-85) was never an alternative choice to gasoline. In this market( two million people in the MSA) there was a grand total of TWO stations that sold E-85. Essentially the subsidy was a tax on everyone who did not use E-85. Which meant 99.9% of us.
Ethanol as a fuel for internal combustion engine is garbage.
Ethanol eats away at the internal engine parts causing excessive wear. Ethanol produces a 10 to 20% loss in engine power. Ethanol burns less efficiently causing a loss in fuel economy.

You are brainwashed! :cuckoo:

up here, E85 costs 3.09. Regular unleaded costs 3.29. You get maybe 55-60% of the range of regular unleaded on the alternative, creating an EFFECTIVE costs of around 5 bucks a gallon to get the same amount of work done.

Yeah, good deal.

Just think how shitty things will get when they pull the subsidies out and force you to pay the real full price.

Ethanol subsidies already ended. I would like to see the $2 a gallon oil & gasoline subsidies gone so ethanol can compete on a level playing field. Oil companies are terrified of the free market. That is why our military forces countries to sell their oil & only in US Dollars. Maybe you should also consider how much you are paying for that.

Farm Press: Ethanol vote ‘severely disappoints’ corn growers
Schott pointed out that one comprehensive report found that subsidies for the oil industry total up to $280 billion annually, representing up to $2 per gallon of gasoline.

As KissMy pointed out: Gas prices were falling until the Ethanol Tax Credit ended. The fact is the end of the tax credit reversed the price direction of gasoline at the pump. Ethanol can no longer compete with $2 a gallon gasoline subsidies. This lack of competition will cause gasoline prices to continue to soar.

Big oil and their gamblers have been gouging consumers annually about this time of year.

Consumers respond by purchasing the high dollar gasoline no matter what. Big oil responds by laughing all the way to the bank.

As we near summer vacation period prices begin to subside and consumers keep buying gasoline and big oil continues laughing.

Although prices do subside they never drop to the previous years low = gas prices are steadily increasing.

Consumers maybe need to pay closer attention to the process big oil has chosen to get MORE OF OUR MONEY.

CONSUMERS it's in your ball park.

yes. It's all a plot. You've never heard of supply and demand, have you? Secondly, did you know that winter formulation and summer formulations of gasoline are different, and nearly every state has it's own legal requirements for these formulations, thereby complicating the ability to produce 'legal' gas? Probably not. To you it's just unleaded gasoline mit der 10% ethanol. Then, every fall, they start the production changeover to the winter gas, which causes a supply shortage, allowing demand to increase, but supply to dwindle, causing a short term increase in prices. Based then on the capacity for producing the new formulation switchover, as well as seeing how much this bites into diesel and heating fuel production, you see a general short term rise that varies with the demands of the season.

Consumers respond by purchasing the high dollar gasoline no matter what.

And your choice is?? Your driving requirements have not changed generally speaking.

Big oil responds by laughing all the way to the bank.

In the early 1990's when the bottom fell out of the oil prices and we were paying 91 cents per gallon, were the consumers 'laughing all the way to the bank'? Can we have some intellectual honesty here, please? When W popped the speculator bubble in oil in 2008 and the gas prices dropped down to pre bubble highs of 1.60 a gallon, were you laughing all the way? Who was speaking out for all the lost profits to the industry? Nobody.

As we near summer vacation period prices begin to subside and consumers keep buying gasoline and big oil continues laughing.

Not totally true. You have demand increasing as 'summer driving season hits'. But you have decrease formulation AND a better, less volatile form of gas on the market because it does not have to help cars start better in cold weather. The specialty demand goes down and more gas of similar types can be put on the market making the supply outgrow demand in most cases causing prices to not spike so hard.

[Although prices do subside they never drop to the previous years low = gas prices are steadily increasing./QUOTE]

ROFLMAO. You have such a short term narrow view of history. Here's gas prices over the last six years. Using the dynamic chart at gasbuddy.com you can do most cities and metropolitan areas.

Notice that huge drop starting July 08? That's when W said we were going to start drilling in the US. Notice the rise starts right after Obama's immaculation? The president who wanted 8 dollar/gallon gas and to destroy the coal industry? Yeah.... I see the connection too.

Gas prices follow the basic laws of markets and economics. If some dipshit like the president says they're going to bankrupt proven energy industries, develop policies to drive all production off shore and force us to use unproven, inefficient, less effective forms of energy production, you bet your ass prices will go up. To claim otherwise is pathologically stupid.

Consumers maybe need to pay closer attention to the process big oil has chosen to get MORE OF OUR MONEY.

CONSUMERS it's in your ball park.

You cretin. "Consumers it's in your ball park"??? We consumers pay very close attention to many things. When you can give us a product to compete with oil that is EQUAL OR BETTER in quality, power and price, then we'll flock to it. Electric cars? Fail. It just transfers the cost onto your electric bill and is no where NEAR as useful. Hybrids hide the cost and pollution in their construction end and STILL aren't as good as advertised. Biofuels? Pffft. Just as dangerous or worse to the environment and half as powerful at best, overly expensive to produce and you use twice as much as you would have for the same work with oil. Now that the subsidies have gone I can expect to see a 46 cent per gallon increase in the price of E85 to be actually MORE expensive than gasoline which is running at 3.39 right now in my area, while the ethanol has not jumped yet off of it's 3.09 price yet. I'm sure that paying 2 times for the same mileage at a price equal or higher than premium gas isn't going to affect it's future at all.

You just are a total innocent, if I'm being charitable, or a total clueless shill, which seems more likely.

You've never heard of supply and demand, have you?

Sure...but supply is UP and demand is DOWN. How does that fit in?
and oil prices are rising because of Iran fucking around and Saudi Arabia trying to protect their spending spree, so that counteracts it. The cost to produce is up.

Let's not ignore crucial factors, shall we?

I hear we are exporting more gasoline than ever before from our refineries too.

So what is the "solution"?

Did you know that is it perfectly within our capabilities to produce automobiles that get greater than 50 MPG?

My solution?

Simple, build more refineries, increase supply, stimulate the economy and bring revenue from outside the US here thereby kickstarting the US's growth again.

If there is that much excess demand (which I'm dubious of we're exporting THAT much gas) then there is a market to sell it and make money domestically. So saturate the global demand on the market for gas and drop the overall prices. Also, cut gas taxes, and you will drop the price between 20-50 cents a gallon depending on the state.

Are those super efficent automobiles able to do what a standard Chevy Suburban can do, and not be an overeducated golf cart? prove that shit first, cause I don't buy it.

If you build a better product, people will buy it without need for government intervention. This is the nature of the universe.

You mindless DittoTards only know CON$ervative revisionist history. That spike in June/July 08 was from the tension between Iran and Israel over missile tests which was eased BEFORE the lying Bushwhacker said anything.

BBC NEWS | Middle East | Iran missile test 'provocative'
The US and Israel have condemned Iran after it test-fired a long range missile capable of reaching Tel Aviv.
Iran state media said nine missiles had been fired in total, including a new Shahab-3, with a range of 2,000km (1,240 miles).
Tehran has tested the missile before, but the latest launch comes amid rising tensions with the US and Israel over the country's nuclear programme.
A senior US state department official said the launch was "provocative".
Wednesday's early morning test at a remote desert site sent oil prices climbing.

Halliburton Gouges Government in Gas Deal

Dick Cheney's old company, Halliburton, which received an exclusive, open-ended, no-bid contract from Cheney's buddies in the White House, is gouging US taxpayers by overcharging for the fuel it imports to Iraq.

Government documents show that Halliburton is charging twice as much for gasoline as other companies are charging. And US taxpayers are footing the bill!

The company is charging the government $2.64 per gallon for the gasoline it imports from Kuwait, and $1.24 per gallon for gas imported from Turkey. The company sells the fuel in Iraq for 5 cents to 15 cents a gallon. The taxpayers are subsidizing the sale.

The Pentagon's Defense Energy Support Center imports fuel from Kuwait for less than half what Halliburton is charging. Iraqi's state oil company is paying the same prices.

Halliburton has already pocketed over $1.4 billion under the no-competition contract. This contract is illegal, under laws that require all government contracts to be posted and open to competitive bidding.

The contract is under investigation, partly because Cheney is the former CEO of the company.

Dumbass, look at the chart again. That spike began that February. It ENDED in July that year the day after W removed the drilling moratorium. I remember that one clearly because I wondered if it WOULD do anything, and it did.

The launches didn't happen till July. Now you're trying to claim the launches caused the price drop? Notice the dateline.

Exactly. All cars cannot use new fuels. Toyota suggested that we not burn alternative fuels because of damage to engine. They had been servicing a number of this situation.
