Random testing in New York is showing 10% of the population is testing positive to the virus. That would be over a million cases, but there are only about 350,000 cases in New York. This would mean that there are 650,000 undiagnosed and uncounted cases in New York, which would change all of the numbers considerably.

Of the 1,133,000 confirmed (tested) cases in the USA, only 227,517 are "closed cases", where the patient has either recovered or died. Of those 227,517 closed cases 65,951 of these people have died, and 161,666 recovered. Yes these numbers are alarming, but two weeks ago the rate of death was 37% of closed cases. I thought that when more tests were being done, this rate would come down considerably, and while it has come down, the rate of "active" cases continues to climb and is now over 900,000 active cases and rising every day.

The truly alarming figure is that with over 900,000 active cases, even if you can get your rate of death down to the world rate of 19%, that's still 171,000 more American deaths, even if there isn't one more case after today. The USA had its highest number of daily deaths from the virus on Thursday.
