Did the book really claim that? Did Walz not bother to read the passage in the book that claimed he served in Afghanistan??

I do indeed understand. He signed an agreement that they would frock him to Sgt Maj, and he'd complete his training. Well, he broke that promise. That in itself was disgraceful. Then he says on his web site he retired at that rank, is a lie. He was never officially a Sgt Maj, which is why they took it from him.

nobody says "frock" in the military, bud.

(I've only heard that term used in relation to the clergy) ..

Even though he was a Master Sergeant, he served as the Command Sergeant Major of the Battalion.
