To leftists, Fairness means taking away your freedom and redistributing your wealth.

Case law that is in conflict with the wording of the Constitution is void, no court has the authority to amend or redefine the Constitution.

Oh really? And who or what has the legal authority to void case law solely on the arbitrary determination that it conflicted with the 'wording' of the Constitution?

Courts do it all the time.

So it's the authority of the courts, and ultimately the Supreme Court, to decide whether or not laws are constitutional...

...that's your big revelation?

I love how the righties spend 99% of their time talking about what "the left believes" and cant seem to lay out their own thoughts and plans

When have I ever had a problem laying out my beliefs?

Indeed. My own freaking signature explains my beliefs. My post does as well. I believe in the sovereignty of the individual; the left believes in the sovereignty of the collective(ie the state).

Now all we need to do is get the States involved and make the MF's abide by their oath and follow the Constitution, I know you don't see that as a problem, I do.

One of the words that has been totally hijacked by the left is "fairness". The only real fairness is treating everyone equally under the law. But liberals reinterpreted this as giving "social justice" to people with the government as the determiner of whether or not "you've made too much money"(Obama said there's a point when someone's made too much - look it up) or how much to "spread the wealth around".

See, that's the difference between liberals and conservatives/libertarians. The leftists define "fairness" as giving more power to the state to do what it thinks is right. The right thinks that you should be given the power to determine your own future.

I keep hearing my coworkers talk about how they are cashing in on their child tax credit. Is that the sort of "redistribution" we are talking about?

I wonder that myself.

Worse, you can post actual video of what their leaders say, in context, and still, they will call it a lie.

Strange how ignorant and poor right wingers think they have so much "wealth". Wealth isn't how big your double wide is.

Arguments based on fairness are generally appeals to emotions or ideologies.

and what would you call arguments appealing to people's selfishness and social darwinism?

or better yet, what would you call people who insist on fostering ideologies that go against their self-interest?

i know what i'd call it….

When someone makes an argument and starts talking about fairness you can safely tune out. This is something that liberals should really learn because when they make arguments about fairness they are usually selling their position short. It is much more sensible to talk about things like economic efficiency or if they are forced to talk about moral issues talk in more concrete ways than "fairness."

No wealth is determined by whether you or the bank owns that double wide and the land it sits on. You fuckers really are stupid.

How about this?

Factory worker Joe pays roughly 24% of his income to the federal government.

CEO Joe Van Joe III pays about 12% of his considerable larger income to the federal government. The money he's able to pull out at a lower rate it moved to and off shore bind trust account which continue to invest and grow, but avoid capital gains taxes.

Fair?

If you can't see the game is rigged in favor of the rich and super rich, you're not paying attention.

The question is not if it is fair or not, the question, is it legal? If it is fairness is commie bullshit deflection.

Interest income is subject to regular taxation.

Capital gains are taxed only when they are realized.

IF they are realized.

Now let's see how the comprehension-challenged cope with that "r" word.

Except on forums. On forums they want to redistribute the rep.

What do you think wealth is, deanie? Is it some government I.O.U.s locked up in some government file drawer?

How does the CEO pay 12%? The lowest the capital gains rate ever got is 15%. That's the lowest rate the rich can pay.

On grounds of economic efficiency, liberals lose every time. Government is the most inefficient way to do virtually anything.

Very true. Politicians in all democracies have long since realised that most of their electorates are more at home with emotions than ideas. And 'fairness' is one of those useful words than can mean anything or nothing.

It is only slightly worse than arguments based on "freedom" without any real connection to reality.

Can you name one of those ideas? I can't think of any myself.

Ideologies that go against self-interest are called "leftist." Ideologies that comply with rational self-interest are called "good sense," but turds like you call them "selfishness" and "social Darwinism."

Might it be that those on the right think that it is YOUR plans which are important and it is not up to the state to plan for you? And that it is YOUR thoughts that matter and that they should not try to impose theirs upon you?

That is called freedom which, I understand, was once held dear in the USA.

That could be it except all those guys in Washington are elected to do more than let freedom ring or whatever. They are there to solve problems.

The right never lays out their solutions or plans...they spend all their time telling each other "the left believes" fairy tales. Its safer that way.

The same way they never have a Tea Party Leader. It allows them to point to the Tea Party as an idea but allows them to never stand behind any ideas presented by them...

Where I live the last people i would choose to 'solve problems' are a bunch of politicians. Maybe those you have in Washington are able, wise, skilled and honest but I am rather doubtful.

The problem with legislatures, often largely composed of lawyers, is that they have an insatiable urge to pass laws - of which there are far too many.

Horse patoot, all the modern democracies have chosen socialism, while here the majority thinks that means communism, and let the greedy idiot rich screw them over again and again in the name of freedom lol...

Factually incorrect; most European countries do not at present have a socialist government and that includes mine, Sweden. Nor, btw, do Australia and Canada.
