Definition of communism:
Communism (from Latin communis, 'common, universal') is a sociopolitical, philosophical, a communist society, a socioeconomic order centered around common ownership of the means of
  • production,
  • distribution, and
  • exchange that allocates products to everyone in the society based on need.
OK.. now for socialism:
a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of
  • production,
  • distribution, and exchange
  • should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
Curious though about the two definitions.... Both say all production, distribution and exchange owned by the "community".

If that is the case, who makes decisions? Simple decisions like
1) are the people that make decisions paid the same as the people that make the fewest and least important decisions.
How much does the person who makes Decisions like how much will a janitor make versus the person who runs a machine make?
2) Or the person who decides what the quantity of goods like nails, for example sell for?
Or how much electricity will cost what will they make for their time spent in making those decisions?

How are what the janitors, to the machinist, to the pricing specialist make?

Finally will the person that makes the decisions to hire the above people, make the same as the janitor, the machinist, etc.?

The leader of the largest Communism country..
World's Richest Politician Is Worth $200 Billion, Owns A $700 Million Jet

Xi Jinping Net Worth

As of 2024, Xi Jinping’s net worth is estimated to be around a staggering $1.2 billion dollars.
As the President of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), his yearly remuneration is $22 million.

So sounds more like capitalism rather
then the premise of communism/socialism) ...should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Of course! There is NO competition in socialism /communism economy. The believers in socialism/communism believe
everyone's position in an organization are equal. The janitor versus the janitor cleaning nuclear reactors are the same.
There is no "survival of the fittest" in socialism/communism.

Except for the party leaders... see above where Putin is worth over $200 billion and Xi Jinping’ salary is $22 million!

No they do not both say that the means of production be owned by the state. And by "controlled", they mean subject to regulation. Unfettered capitalism is disastrous.

1. People are paid according to their level of ability and responsibility. But people doing the same job with the same qualifications, should be paid equally, regardless of age, gender, or race.

2. The market decides.

3. All first world countries are MIXED economies. The USA relies far more heavily on the for-profit sectors, for health, education, and research than the rest of the first world, and your corporations are the least regulated, regardless of what Republicans tell you.

You also have the lowest personal tax rates, and the highest levels of wealth and wage inequity in the first world. The largest national debt in the world. Every tax cut widens the wealth gap.

First you have to define who actually supports the definitions of the ideas posted.

We all support Socialism as the term is used today.

there are several forms and flavors of each, not all of which own any means of production at all.

cap0italism also comes in several flavors, with this one being just slightly better than the old south or victorian london.

where did you learn about these economic systems? "communism," originally refereed to the people of the "commons," peasants allowed to farm on his lordship's property in return for a share of the crops, military service as required, and the lord gets first shot at the bride after a peasant's wedding.

So you are in favor of an economy totally regulated by the government. And all capitalism be shared by everyone. With taxes going to pay federal rules and regulations (now costing small businesses nearly $100k to increase right including unclaimed capital gains that would eventually as the government paying $25,000 more per new home buyer who will eventually have to under “rules and regulations “ expanded to recover the $25,000 loaned them to buy their first home. Right?

Did you not follow the link i provided that was exact words or the definition? See you need to keep from jumping to conclusions before you read the facts!

"Socialize the cost, privatize the profit", the Republican mantra, is opposed not just by liberals, but by all normal people.

Liberals are the proud heirs of Adam Smith, the founder of capitalism. Smith pointed out that unregulated capitalism always devolves into monopolies and cronyism, and that's just what happened under Republican policies. The inflation we saw is a direct result of the Republican attacks on capitalism.

Modest Declines in Positive Views of ‘Socialism’ and ‘Capitalism’ in U.S.

Many Democrats say socialism meets people’s basic needs; Republicans say it restricts individual freedoms

Today, 36% of U.S. adults say they view socialism somewhat (30%) or very (6%) positively, down from 42% who viewed the term positively in May 2019. Six-in-ten today say they view socialism negatively, including one-third who view it very negatively.

MAY I REMIND YOU... "36% IS NOT "WE ALL"!

Will people who perform hazardous tasks make the same as the janitor?

Yes.

People in America that want this though are the janitors.

The issue is every single American that wants this kind of setup are the bottom of the barrel. They are soft, weak, lazy, lack will, and have no ambition. They were raised to be useless. They serve no purpose to society and have no value to anyone.

So they want communism and socialism because they want everyone drug down to their level. They want to be equal to everyone by dragging them down instead of fighting their way up. If they can't find satisfaction and fulfillment in their lives then they want it by taking away everyone else's.

And politicians will do it to win votes because why not? It won't effect them anyway, they will remain above the common man.

Wrong and wrong. Neither Russia nor China are communist countries. Both are authoritarian dictatorships and oligarchies. Russia hasn't been a communist country since 1989.

Everyone's position in an organization in NOT equal. Nor are they being paid equally.

If you know nothing about these things, why are you offering opinions on something you know nothing about. Mixed economies with well regulated capitalism, and publicy run schools and heathcare have the highest GDP, and the highest levels of personal freedom.

Communism died in 1989. There never were any real communist countries, any more than there are any purely capitalist countries, and neither would succeed economically, if there were.

You're right. We long ago learned that when you have sufficient income to provide you with life's necessities, you have more freedom, to achieve your full potential, without have to live dog eat dog. When you nation provides you with re-training if you need it, or income supports while starting a business, and resonable unemployment insurance, you're healthier, wealthier, and you have more opportunities to live life on your own terms.

Keeping people stressed and on the edge of financial calamity reduces productivity, and prevents risk taking, and shortens lives. Americans are on the edge of a nervous breakdown over it. You keep sliding down the "best places to live list" while people in Canada, Norway, Australia and New Zealand all think you've lost your minds.

Most people of modern successful countries support capitalism by a landslide, but we also support a good healthy dose of socialism within our capitalist systems.

This thread is just another frantic attempt to confuse the very obvious facts.

Let America experiment with having none of that! The rest of the world will be better for it!

Then do what it takes to fix it. Start by eliminating all government social programs! But beware that charities will have to pick up the load or there will be dead American carcasses rotting all over the streets, and the stench will permeate gated communities.

We all. When Trump took taxpayer money to give to the corporate farms some said they didn't actually support it but since it was done to help Trump try and win re-election they actually supported it.
