The republicans agreed to it, and McCarthy assigned 3 or four republicans to the investigation committee to work out with Dems, on rules McCarthy wanted for the investigation, equal R members to Ds, equal veto power, equal subpoena power....of which Nancy gave all those concessions to the Rs and the Rs agreed to vote for it. Meanwhile McCarthy made his famous "kiss the ring" trip to Mara Largo, and when he returned he did an about face, made a big stink about not doing it and the Senate, voted it down.... Trump called it off, after it was agreed upon by Rs with D's on every single thing that McCarthy was asking for.... It was all over the press, at the time....

The January 6th House Committee may be filing criminal contempt charges against Mark Meadows if he continues to refuse to cooperate with their investigation. If Meadows is truly innocent then it shouldn't be a problem for him to come forward and lay out that case. The people have a right to know if malfeasance truly occurred or not.
