Exclusive: Trump admin. plans expanded immigrant detention

The Trump administration is planning to radically expand the program and facilities for the detention of immigrant families seeking asylum in the United States, according to documents obtained exclusively by All In.

In a town hall with Department of Homeland Security staffers last month, Asylum Division Chief John Lafferty said DHS had already located 20,000 beds for the indefinite detention of those seeking asylum, according to notes from the meeting obtained by All In. This would represent a nearly 500% increase from current capacity.

The plan is part of a new set of policies for those apprehended at the border that would make good on President Trump’s campaign promise to end the practice critics call “catch and release.”

“If implemented, this expansion in immigration detention would be the fastest and largest in our country’s history,” says Andrew Free, an immigration lawyer in Nashville who represents clients applying for asylum. “And my worry is it’ll be permanent. Once those beds are in place they’ll never go away.”

Expanded ILLEGAL immigrant detentions. Legal immigrants are welcome. Commit the crime, expect to face the consequences.

What did you not understand about "no more catch and release"?

Figure out the difference between illegal aliens and immigrants, then try again.

When someone is arrested for stealing, doing drugs, or assaulting someone, do you guys cry about them being separated from their families? No, it's what happens when people break the law.

Whose fault is it that they are breaking laws?

The mothers can either take their children with them as they are deported to their home countries or they can choose to leave the children here with friends or relatives. What they cannot do is use their children to weasel their way into becoming legal immigrants.

Let the ethnic cleansing begin.....
If only you were able to understand half the words you use, your posts might begin to make some sense. It can't be ethnic cleansing if people of the same ethnicity are not effected by it. You need to try to figure out what it is you are opposed to.

Why not be nice to the hispanics?

You don't recognize the difference between illegal aliens and immigrants. You don't see the difference between illegal aliens and Hispanics. You are the problem.

No one is being mean to Hispanics. People want laws upheld and it doesn't matter who breaks them. There are consequences to breaking a country's laws.

MSNBC doesn't have a freaking clue of what happens with Trump's immigration policies. Can't the left see that the MSNBC editorial is based on speculation and assumption and hatred for the administration? The problem for the left is that they are so used to left wing propaganda that they are unable to distinguish fake news from news anymore.

When the media tacitly condemns law enforcement (Toranda Davis, of KUSA) reported with fake amusement: it's legal for ICE agents to catch illegal aliens? Like enforcing the law is a crime? How liberal , er, STUPID is this?

We all know - the groups the RWNJ traitors hate the mist are children and mothers. They will never pass up the chance to harm them.

And every damn one of them will tell you they are christians.

It boggles my mind when the media makes enforcement of immigration laws seem outrageous and unfair. To whom are these people appealing to? I have lived here longer than Toranda Davis or most of the staff at KUSA. I was born in Colorado. And they have Kyle Clark, the smarmy ass new guy. I remember The old crew, people like Gene Amole, Star Yelland, going back to the early sixties. I remember Denver before it sold out it's soul to developers and speculators and out of staters. It's gone NOW.
