Trump had a successful strategy for dealing with rivals

I could not figure out why Trump keeps neglecting his number 2 rival, Ted Cruize, until I realized that he was more concerned about the organization of the RNC than Ted Cruize. He went after Rubio who had no chance of winning. It was kind of weird from my point of view but then I realized he knew that the RNC as an organization would back him so he went after him. This killed the organization's effort to stop him from winning. I think, at some point, he realized it was more important to defeat the efforts of the organization itself since that is where all the money and effort is going to be put to stop him. He knows that Cruize isn't supported by the RNC so he doesn't see him as a threat. It would be interesting if he repeats the same strategy against Bernie or HIllary.
