Same here. And, if I don't have cash, I use my ATM card. I shop at places like Wal Mart and United Supermarkets, and I buy things like Bud Light and Benadryl. When buying just the Benadryl, I have never been asked for my ID. When buying beer? They usually look at me, grin, and say "are you sure you're old enough to buy this"?, but never ask for my ID. I guess it's the hat that says US Navy Retired, as well as the grey beard and hair that helps that along. I think that since I retired in '02, I have been carded a grand total of maybe 3 or 4 times when in the grocery store.

And, when I go to the corner liquor store, the never ask me for ID there either. But, I guess that is because the people who work there know me.

I'd have to hear the whole event in context to come to the conclusion that President Trump doesn't know about buying groceries.
