In New York prosecutors must release their evidence to the defense team within 15 days of an indictment. Prosecutors must release comprehensive information including police reports, the names and statements of witnesses identified by the police or district attorney’s office, and grand jury testimony.

I believe the charges are going to be "falsifying his company’s business records to obscure the reason for the payment" - definitely falling under the NY business laws. This isn't - at least from what I have read - a federal campaign violation. A Manhattan DA will have no jurisdiction over that.

Understood - not disputing the fact that the conduct violates the letter of the law, but it seems to me that the statute was probably aimed at going after organized crime, serial money laundering - that sort of thing. Payment to keep an escort from talking to reporters during a federal campaign is not really in that same vein.

That's why I think some jurors, who are predisposed to believe that Democratic prosecutors are out to get their guy, are going to give the state the finger.
