Trump: Middle East Would Be Better Off With Saddam, Gaddafi

Trump is 100% correct. Thanks to the idiotic US foreign policy we have certainly succeeded in removing all stability from the Middle East and encouraged radical Islam to continue its quest of domination. Saddam and Gaddafi were bad but the alternative has proved to be not only bad, but ghastly!
Bingo. We also empowered Iran by removing their biggest enemy for them.
.

It still amazes me that we learned nothing from Vietnam. In addition, we had the Russian experience in Afghanistan. I read the other day that some of our soldiers got into trouble for stepping in to stop child molesters in Afghanistan. We have to respect the customs, even if molesting a child is one of them. What are we doing there?

"It's not even a contest."

Donald Trump said Sunday that the Middle East would be more stable if Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and Libyan autocrat Muammar Gaddafi were still in power.

When asked on NBC's "Meet the Press" if he thought the region would be "safer" with Hussein and Gaddafi ruling Iraq and Libya, respectively, the real estate mogul and ersatz Republican presidential candidate replied, "It's not even a contest."

Trump reasoned that had the United States not forced Hussein out of power in Iraq, the Islamic State would not have come into existence.

Amen! I totally agree! Saddam kept the lid on that cesspool.

Your buffoon, O, killed gaddafi. Funny you only mentioned saddam.
Thank God, it was long overdue for that fucking murderer who blew up PAN AM 103 over Lockerbie. Every President since Reagan who caused that terrorist attack and the ones who followed with inaction has a shameful mark next to their name for not doing the job Obama finally finished.

Saddam killed between 250,000 to 500,000. But you're against saddam's death because bush got him.
What does this conversation have to do with Reagan and Saddam? Are you mixing up Qaddafi with Saddam. Saddam is the dictator Reagan gave chemical weapons to. Qaddafi was the one who blew up our airliner over Scotland.

Yeah, Reagan caused the attack.

Correct. Reagan failed to retaliate in strength after the Disco bombing. The retaliation included bombing Qaddafi's home and while missing Qaddafi, managed to allegedly kill his daughter. This was a great insult to the Libyan leader who was vying for the title as leader of a coalition of Arab states. Custom required revenge for his daughters death and he vowed to have revenge. The attack on PAN AM was the Christian holiday revenge he promised.
Qaddafi attacked American military personnel with a terrorist attack in Germany. Reagan responded with a weak and ineffective one night bombing raid when a devastating attack that should have continued until Qaddafi was brought to the negotiating table for a negotiated halt that brought about a vow not to conduct terrorist attacks against Americans, not a vow to kill Americans in the future. Of course this was after the world knew the kind of response that could be expected from Reagan. His lame responses to the Embassy bombing in Beirut followed by the lame response to the Barracks bombing shortly thereafter proved Reagan's lack of courage to respond to terrorist attacks.
First of all, there was no daughter. He said it was his adopted daughter but there was no record of an adoption. Second, you are trying to blame Qaddafi's terrorism on Reagan for retaliating and "insulting him". You are not only a special kind of stupid, you are also a special kind of scum.

You are talking in circles. You say there was no daughter because the kid that got killed was an adopted daughter and because no documents were found by western sources the kid wasn't even an official adopted daughter? Your conclusion is therefore assumed to preclude the leader of the Arab world from wanting to seek revenge for bombing his home and killing somebodies child living in his home. Perhaps you have some other explanation about why Libya would send official intelligence agents to Europe to plant a bomb in a commercial jet full of Americans and blow them out of the sky. They got convicted you know. It isn't as if there is a big mystery about who blew PAN AM 103 out of the sky. Why did Qaddafi do that?

No, saddam was creating chemical weapons, project 922.

Reagan was selling weapons to both Iraq and Iran. Iraq got tech help and various equipment and supplies from both the USSR and the USA. Iraq used chemical weapons throughout that period on both the Iranians and the Kurdish civilians in the northern Kurdish villages. That puts the USA in trade and collusion with Saddam while he was using chemical weapons. Reagan was the President at the time.

The mess in the Middle East is a perfect (and tragic) example of the law of unintended consequences.

We thought we were fixing a problem by shoving our nose and our tanks in there, and all we were doing was pissing on a hornet's nest.

And look at what it has cost us.

Considering that left wingers today are trying to make Trump out to be a crazy whack job for praising Saddam's treatment of terrorists, I thought it would be prudent to bring this thread back to life.

Please note Lakhota's OP. About keeping a lid on that cesspool.

Very good point.

Lakhota's words from the op.

"Amen! I totally agree! Saddam kept the lid on that cesspool."

Liberals: All the intellectual honestly of a crack whore.

Trump never said anyone was better off. He said that Hussein and Gaddafi were murderous dictators but they did not deal gently with enemies in their countries. They were ruthless killers.

We are sensitive lovers who want to make sure terrorists are comfortable.

Hard to believe I agree with trump. Harder to believe repubs support him after years of them supporting those wars.

On this issue, I completely agree with Trump.

Republicans destroyed Iraq.
Democrats destroyed Libya.

Gadaffi was not only good for Libya, he was good for the entire region.

He built the 8th Wonder of the World, which brought millions of gallons of water to the desert. Obama blew it up.
