Trump releases 7 point healthcare plan

Trump has claimed the only part of Obamacare that he will keep is the requirement to cover those with pre-existing conditions.......I will not allow people to die in the street

How will Trump pay for it? There is nothing in his plan to cover it
Like that issue actually bothers you..
Besides, he clearly stated it was a place to start. Many negotiations and discussions would take place on this policies behalf

Actually, it does bother me. Repealing Obamacare takes insurance away from 13 million Americans

Trump saying....I will give you details later is a cop out

Pre-existing conditions/Individual mandate are critical parts of Obamacare. How does Trump intend to require one without the other?

I truly believe that if trump were to win the GE, Congress would work with him. They would have to, or they will get voted out. Perhaps I am being naïve..

Yeah, I think you're being a little naive. The critters in Congress have mastered the skill of continual reelections in the face of single digit approval ratings. :p

I wont post his comments and such. Just the plan
  1. Completely repeal Obamacare. Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to.
  2. Modify existing law that inhibits the sale of health insurance across state lines. As long as the plan purchased complies with state requirements, any vendor ought to be able to offer insurance in any state. By allowing full competition in this market, insurance costs will go down and consumer satisfaction will go up.
  3. Allow individuals to fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns under the current tax system. Businesses are allowed to take these deductions so why wouldn’t Congress allow individuals the same exemptions? As we allow the free market to provide insurance coverage opportunities to companies and individuals, we must also make sure that no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance. We must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it.
  4. Allow individuals to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Contributions into HSAs should be tax-free and should be allowed to accumulate. These accounts would become part of the estate of the individual and could be passed on to heirs without fear of any death penalty. These plans should be particularly attractive to young people who are healthy and can afford high-deductible insurance plans. These funds can be used by any member of a family without penalty. The flexibility and security provided by HSAs will be of great benefit to all who participate.
  5. Require price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure.
  6. Block-grant Medicaid to the states. Nearly every state already offers benefits beyond what is required in the current Medicaid structure. The state governments know their people best and can manage the administration of Medicaid far better without federal overhead. States will have the incentives to seek out and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources.
  7. Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers that offer safe, reliable and cheaper products. Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America. Though the pharmaceutical industry is in the private sector, drug companies provide a public service. Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers.

------

Not too bad. Add competition and remove barriers. Therefore, lowering costs. Actually going after the ruckus that started all of this totalitarian healthcare crap.
So he is adopting all the talking points of ever other Republican candidate.
(1) Obamacare is bad, but it did solve an absolute crucial problem to solve. Pre-existing conditions, canceling plans went some gets sick and raising rates the year after someone gets sick. These protections will be eliminated.

(2) He doesn't understand the argument. Companies are free to sell across state lines the probably is having to follow the particular States mandates they are selling in and not the state mandate they are located in.

(3) Deductible Health Insurance premium: Most plans are through one's employer which are pre taxed adjustments. No change.

(4) HSA: The same damn argument. We have these now and the contributions are pretax. It doesn't help a bit!

(5) Price Transparency: Ask for an estimate! Sounds great as a talking point, not so great as a tangible benefit.

(6) Get the fed out of Medicaid sounds great, but that means no Fed money to fund essential services. Esp since Trump would inadvertently bring pre-existing condition riders and denials to sick people Medicaid is many people's only option.

(7) Need more details, but this sounds like a good point.

So, back to making lots of money for private companies and back to the old ways then?
That's not what I read in the op but I wouldn't mind in the least if NOTHING replaced Obamacare.

If you think Obamacare is so great remove the draconian mandate & let it compete on the open market with the old plans & see if it survives.

Can't provide for those with pre existing conditions and compete without a mandate.

Without a mandate we will have lots with no insurance. When they go to the hospital and can't pay it increases costs for everyone.
Only if government forces hospitals to treat them, like they have. Your argument is big government demands bigger government, so that makes it right.

A mandate is not competing though. It's like giving a man with one leg a car ride to the finish line in a 100 yard dash race.
