Trump to Announce Carrier Plant Will Keep Jobs in U.S.

For those asshats on the right, like the ever moronic Iceweasel, note that we lost one out of three manufacturing jobs under George W Bush. 1 out of 3.

From the time the Bush Recession quit shedding jobs to now, we have gained manufacturing jobs.

Quit blaming Obama for the immense failures of the Republican Party.

By passing a law that said Corporations don't have to pay income tax on foreign made profits until they bring that money back just invited more overseas investments.

The Republican solution is to let the companies bring that money back tax free. Great plan ......if you want to encourage overseas investments.

Now that is kinda funny since it is a one time deal. But whatever you want to think is fine. We no longer have to explain it since regardless of how you feel about it, it is going to happen. If it works, fine; if it doesn't, then you can bitch.

Trump to Announce Carrier Plant Will Keep Jobs in U.S.

Abra Cadabra! Trump's magic is here! The Donald has convinced Carrier Heating and Air Conditioning to stay in the US!

Just think of the jobs that will be returning/staying once he is president. I would guess even Obama himself is impressed!

What did Carrier get to make that decision?

Trump's magic?

Just like you praised obozo for the low unemployment? Trump is already driving you insane huh?

It was a short drive...

No matter the reason its good news.

Fourteen hundred people work at that plant and now their jobs are safe.

I'm sure Trump told Carrier the Corporate tax rate will be going down from 35% to 15% and that was probably one of the reasons they decided to stay.

Trump is also a businessman and he knows how to make his case for them staying in America.

Good for Trump and good for Carrier and congratulations to all those workers who will still be employed.
How is our new president going to cut taxes and still fund government? Or, are we going to rely on the right wing, to do the right thing.
The theory is, if you reform rules and regulations on business, and lower tax rates, businesses have more capital to expand and hire more employees. Another side effect is that when a business' is fiscally sound, share prices go up making them a better investment to make. Again, creating more money flow to expand operations and raise wages. Then with more money being made, business and individuals banking more $$'s gives banks more money to loan that also greases the wheels of the economy.

The short of it is, when private and business monies are more available and being utilized to make more money that is taxed, the economy grows and thereby increases tax receipts.

Inversely, using government money to boost the economy seldom works as intended. A business that uses government funds is generally using it as a band aid, and any benefit to the economy seldom, if ever, increases tax receipts above that of the cost.

I understand this may be hard for you to grasp, but cutting taxes to increase tax receipts has worked in the past.

Let's break it down into dollars and cents.

Carrier is owned by United Technologies.

United Technologies has a revenue of over 56 billion a year.

10% of that business goes to the United States government.

That means the US does 5.6 billion in business with UTC a year.

Carrier has a revenue of 100 million a year.

No mention of United Technologies Electronic Controls which is also in Indiana, has 700 jobs and is also moving to Mexico and is also owned by UTC.

Both plants are very profitable and pay their workers $23 an hour on average. But moving to Mexico, they could squeeze a tiny bit more money out of the companies.

So the Trump administration threatens the company, just a little, that maybe some of those 5.6 billion in government contracts might go someplace else.

Carrier revenue is less than 2% of the business UTC does with the federal government.

Carrier, stay or go is still profitable.

So Carrier stays.

UTC keeps it's 5.6 billion in government contracts.

UTEC still moves it's 700 jobs to Mexico.

Trump looks like a hero.

Everyone is happy.

And all it took was a little big government blackmail.

Will it be that easy in the future?

Doubtful.

But that's not what happened here.

Oh, it will work just fine. Carrier's parent company, UTC, does over 5.6 BILLION a year in contracts with the federal government. One hundred million is less than 2% of 5.6 billion. Even if Carrier wasn't profitable, which it is, it still makes fiscal sense for UTC to keep Carrier here. Otherwise, they could lose some of those oh so sweet government contracts.

Another Indiana company, also owned by UTC, United Technologies Electronic Controls is still moving it's 700 jobs to Mexico. As long as no one makes a stink, Trump's minions don't need to know.

So then, tell us why Obama didn't intervene! He IS STILL the President, is he not? He WAS the President when it was announced that those jobs were leaving, yes......no!

Trump can save jobs BEFORE he is President. Obama can't save anything.......including money, while he IS President-)

Rdean, thank you for being you. YOU are the poster child, for why we WILL continue to win, and why illegal aliens are going to be put back into the box. We appreciate all your idioc........errr, I mean help in the matter.

I'm sorry snowflake, have I triggered you?

You've said and done nothing. Maybe you want to outline the screwing that GM gave us?

And...that snowflake thing......it gives you away.

Net loss of 11 billion, what a deal.

Taxpayers Don't Have Government Motors To Kick Around Any More

From your link:

"A study released Monday by the Center for Automotive Research concluded that the government bailout of GM spared 1.2 million jobs in 2009 and preserved $39.4 billion in personal and social insurance tax collections in 2009 and 2010. “Any complete cost-benefit assessment of the federal assistance to GM in its restructuring must consider the total net returns to the public investment…” researchers Sean McAlinden and Debra Maranger Menk wrote in “The Effect on the U.S. Economy of the Successful Restructuring of General Motors.”"

You failed again. What a shock.

So it's different when Trump intervenes to save jobs? How very hypocritical of you, what a shock.

We are all hypocrites. But, I am hoping Trump brings back manufacturing jobs. Very consistent.
One of the reasons for Trump's success is that he campaigned on his understanding that millions of working people are in pain, are hurting, and that he, Donald Trump, is prepared to take on the Establishment.

Now, to what degree those were just totally, absolutely hollow lies remains to be seen, but if you look at the things he said, this guy talked about ending our disastrous trade policies. He talked about taking on the drug companies, taking on Wall Street, taking on the overall political establishment – "draining the swamp." We will see to what degree there was any honesty in what he was saying, whether there was any sincerity in what he was saying.

Blackmail sets a very, very ugly precedent. That's NOT how you do business.

Even GOP minions didn't like it when the GOP leadership did it to Obama.

Unemployment benefits: not until Bush tax cuts pass, Senate GOP says

Imagine trying to blackmail every single company that does business with the US Government. And what happens to a company that doesn't do business with the US Government. Where's the leverage?

Then he hired the swamp to be his administration. Our Treasury controlled by someone from Goldman Sachs. During the campaign, he sometimes changed his position in the same paragraph. Why would you think a man with a credit score of 19 out of a hundred, who stiffs his workers and has six bankruptcies would be honest? I thought you guys voted for him because he wasn't.

The more important question is,

when will Trump get back all of the Carrier jobs that have already left?

Because that was Trump's promise, bringing jobs BACK.

Well this is only going to piss off the left even more, Trump doing Obama's job for him. What's Obama doing, got his thumb stuck up his ass?

Cheap labor. The NLRB had a complaint. Nothing to do with Obama.
