The question is, what did they spend it on? A lot of the funds probably went to “projects” othen than the high speed rail. Many related financial records will be conveniently “lost”. Now what could we use that money for ...and piss off Newsom more than Don Jr. Fucking the shit out of his ex wife.....WALL!!!!!

The $2.5 billion has already been spent — but California has failed to deliver the high-speed rail (on time, or at all) as promised.

Therefore, the Trump administration argues, the state has to repay federal taxpayers.

The Los Angeles Times quoted Stanford law professor David Freeman Engstrom, a Stanford law professor, describing Trump’s effort as a “nuclear option.”

The practice of recovering money after a breach of contract, while common in the private sector, was virtually unheard of in government, he explained.

“There is a reluctance to penalize misspending by local government agencies. … Almost never do those violations result in terminations, in part because federal agencies are set up to distribute money, not take it back, and they also lack funding for strict grant enforcement,” the Times added.

Bout time the Fed started taking back money that was appropriated for things that never happened.

Wonder how much they would get if Trump does it across the country??

The fact is that California has not cancelled the project as originally reported. They are re-evaluating the route. The President is supposed to be President to everyone. This clearly is part of Trump's continuing war on California because they refuse to back him politically.

Gee, I’m hoping they go ahead and build it. I’m curious to see how much faster it really goes without all the added weight of passengers, luggage, etc. Damn thing would nearly fly I’d imagine.

Money was allocated to California with the expectation and belief that a high speed rail would be built linking San Francisco and Los Angeles. Where is the bullet train running from north to south?

It's been cancelled by Gavin Newsome, quite sensibly, and now California should reimburse that money to the federal government he detests so much. Maybe if they weren't actively trying to support millions of illegal immigrants they wouldn't be trying to hang onto money that doesn't belong to them.
