I don't think this "draft" would ever pass, it has far too many holes in it and only 2 vote margin for Republicans.

Under two bills drafted by separate House committees, the government would no longer penalize Americans for failing to have health insurance but would try to encourage people to maintain coverage by allowing insurers to impose a surcharge of 30 percent for those who have a gap between health plans.

I don't see how this band-aid is at all workable. It means less people insured, more people abusing the system, more expensive insurance for everyone.

Insurance companies still have to cover pre-existing conditions and 30% surcharge is right near irrelevant when people forgo insurance until they are really sick. This means HIGHER PRICES for everyone, because without a doubt without mandate more people, especially young, will forgo insurance and 30% MORE COST is a direct 30% DIS-INCENTIVE to ever get insured unless it's specifically because of medical need.



The best thing Republicans can do for themselves and America is scrap this fix-nothing nonsense, pass some fixes to ACA and MOVE THE F ON from this dead end as fast as they can to what would be for more popular tax-cut agenda.
