I know this will not compute with you, but winning only 30 states is pretty shitty historically speaking. Since 1900 only 6 winning candidates out of 32 elections won less than 30 states.

That's not actually what Gerson is saying. He's saying some evangelical leaders are "acting" like slimy pol operatives. And that's true, but not hardly new in the cases of Franklin Graham and Jerry Falwell Jr.

And Gerson was front and center in W's selling WOMD to America leading up to the Iraq invasion.

Religion and politics don't mix well, unless people stick to basic values. And Gerson did write some of W's really good speech at the Nat Cathedral just after 9-11. He's not a despicable person, but a grain of salt ....

His real schtick is not about Stormy Daniels or personal morality. He's upfront that a Christian had to have questions of both Hillary and Trump, and just not because each committed moral sins, as we all do. But Hillary's done, now. And it's tough to be a Christian while giving a pass on White Supremacy, Muslims as all followers of hate, and misogyny. What do you get for abandoning Christ on those issues? Anti-abortion judges? Not having employers pay for IUDs?
