Trump's New York Hush-Money Case Will Start March 25. It's The First Criminal Trials.

From the Right Wing "The Hill">
President Biden acted responsibly, cooperated completely, and the decision to decline criminal charges was relatively straightforward. In short, to borrow a phrase from the last administration, the Hur report represents the complete and total exoneration of President Biden,” said Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), the panel’s ranking member.

The United States and other Western nations had for months called for the ousting of Mr.Shokin, who was widely criticized for turning a blind eye to corrupt practices and for defending the interests of a venal and entrenched elite. He was one of several political figures in Kyiv whom reformers and Western diplomats saw as a worrying indicator of a turn to past corrupt practices, two years after a revolution that was supposed to put a stop to self-dealing by those in power. 1/3 As the problems festered, Kyiv drew increasingly sharp criticism from Western diplomats and leaders. In one high-profile example, known in Ukraine as the case of the “diamond prosecutors,” troves of diamonds, cash and other valuables were found in the homes of two of Mr. Shokin’s subordinates, suggesting that they had been taking bribes. But the case became bogged down, with no reasons given. When a department in Mr. Shokin’s office tried to bring it to trial, the prosecutors were fired or resigned. The perpetrators seemed destined to get off with claims that the stones were not worth very much. For many Ukrainians, the case encapsulated a failure to follow through on the sweeping promises made during the heady days of the revolution to root out corruption and establish a modern, transparent state. Instead, there has seemed to be a return to business-as-usual horse-trading and compromise among the tightly-knit Ukrainian oligarchic and business elite. In a visit in December, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. said corruption was eating Ukraine “like a cancer.” Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, which props up Ukraine financially, said last month that progress was so slow in fighting corruption that “it’s hard to see how the I.M.F.-supported program can continue.”With this pressure mounting, Parliament on Tuesday voted by a comfortable margin to remove Mr. Shokin.

Lerner did her job. You wingnuts were trying to pull a tax dodge by calling your PAC's "Social Welfare" agencies.

I was talking about Smirnov, the guy who you pinned all your links to Joe on. The laptop is a fake... The only thing they are charging Hunter with is the tax evasion he already copped to.

Oh, yeah, how's your DJT stock doing? Down another 14% today! Down 72% total from it's peak.
1. Whenever democrats said Hur "exonerated" Biden Hur interrupted them saying that is NOT TRUE. Then the dems said "reclaiming my time" to continue lying.

2. The new "prosecutor" after Shokin never investigated nor prosecuted anyone, especially Burisma. it was corruption as usual.

3. meh, she's gone.

4. You can talk Smirnov, I'll talk Bobulinsky.

5. Still waiting for the bottom to buy more...

And then it was withheld AFTER his deputies were found taking massive bribes.
This isn't complicated. Shokin was corrupt, which is why the EU, IMF, and even Republicans in Congress insisted he should go.
The new "prosecutor" did not prosecute anyone. Lie, lies, lies everywhere you look. The only "TRUTH" is the money laundering and the $20,000,000 that hit the Biden Crime Family coffers.

Republicans should want purported criminals to face justice.
Alvin Bragg said that the "Law" doesn't say that he has to define the underlying crime that Trump is being prosecuted for covering up. WTF!!!

You can type stuff, but its only typing. I have credible links.

Obama only approved the $1b loan guarantee because Shokin was fighting corruption.

I have Victor Shokin himself admitting he was planning on starting the investigation when he got canned...

Shokin told me in written answers to questions that, before he was fired as general prosecutor, he had made “specific plans” for the investigation that “included interrogations and other crime-investigation procedures into all members of the executive board, including Hunter Biden.”

Keep waiting. Just don't hold your breath.

He did. You should have read his statement of facts.

So that's good for Republicans, proving Biden had Shokin fired before he investigated Hunter and Burisma.
Thanks!

LOL

Shokin was on the case for two years and even helped the owner of Burisma avoid prosecution. That's proof of his corruption and proof that Biden wasn't getting Shokin thrown out because his sin worked for Burisma.

That you think that's good for Republicans is exhibit A of your dementia.

So what is the underlying crime that Trump was covering up with hush money????
I saw Alvin on TV yesterday saying that the Law says he doesn't have to specify it.

Perhaps he doesn't. But he did. You'd know that if only you had been paying attention. The crime he covered up was his personal attorney's crime of making illegal campaign contributions to Trump's campaign in the form of hush money to a porn star.

Probably correct. Here's what I saw:
Shokin told me in written answers to questions that, before he was fired as general prosecutor, he had made “specific plans” for the investigation that “included interrogations and other crime-investigation procedures into all members of the executive board, including Hunter Biden.”

What else I factored in was that Burisma was going public and did not want ANY bad press, i.e. "any investigation".
Shokin was fired, there was no subsequent investigation, Biden buried the investigation and protected Hunter's cash cow.

Exactly. That's what everyone thought it was, a Federal election law violation. But...
1. The DOJ passed on it
2. The FEC passed on it
3. The southern district of NY passed on it
4. Bragg has no jurisdiction to prosecute a FEDERAL crime.

The USSC said you can do whatever you want with your own money, i.e. "free speech" (Citizen's United case)
Bragg can't prove that Trump didn't pay Stormy to keep Melania from finding out.

He buried nothing. Shokin was never actively investigating Zlochevsky. All he did was help Zlochevsky avoid prosecution when Great Britain went after him. He was fired because he was corrupt.

The DoJ passed on it because it's a state crime. The FEC passed on it because it was a Republican-led panel voting on whether or not to pursue.

And yes, Bragg can prove it was for the election, not Melanie. There's evidence Trump wanted Cohen to delay making the payment until after election day and then not pay her.

That was old news. And we now know:

Ken White: We know a lot more now about the D.A.’s theory of the case than we did before. There was a lot of speculation about whether the predicate crime — the one Trump was promoting by falsifying records — was going to be federal or state, and whether it was going to be campaign-finance related or election-interference related. Now the prosecutors have shown their hand, and their lead theory is going to be that Trump meant to interfere unlawfully with an election by concealing information that the voters might have considered. A case tends to look stronger after the prosecution picks a theory and commits to it. The evidence of deliberate falsification of records is going to be very strong.

AG Barr calls hush-money case an "abomination". Alvin Bragg is a political hack.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr slammed New York prosecutors for the “obviously political” Trump hush money case, calling it an “abomination” as jury selection continues in the landmark trial.
Barr, who led the Department of Justice under former President Trump, argued the case signals what the real threat to democracy is in his opinion – the “excesses of the progressive left.”
