Twitter Tagging Ukrainian Propaganda...

The same Iraq we spent 20 years in? That strategy didn't work out so well, did it? Putin's plan hasn't changed, it was never going to be a quick war. You defeat the West by bleeding them over time. The American public will not support an endless blank check to Ukraine, the US cannot justify the expense beyond a year at most. Not to mention that Ukraine takes a back burner if something else comes up, like Korea or the Middle East. The only people that even talked about a short war were Westerners attempting to paint Putin's plans as ineffective. That was clearly untrue.

Just remember the so-called experts you believe also said the Russians were out of ammo six or seven months ago.

Conquering, not pacifying.

He wanted a quick war, just because you don't support western views on supporting it doesn't mean you have to make shit up about Russian intentions.

He wanted the provinces with russians in them in the east and planned a rapid occupation of Kiev to force the issue. Maybe if the forces collapsed he could hope for full annexation, but I doubt he wanted a long fight.

A quick war is what the West wanted, then a long insurgency. The West wanted to recreate Iraq in the Ukraine. Putin isn't that stupid. Of all the world leaders involved in this, only Putin has ever won a war. Think on that. It's not a matter of supporting or believing either side. I could care less, it's a matter of what's really happening. Ukraine is Chechnya writ large. Expecting Putin to abandon a strategy that actually worked for some blitz strategy that failed is utterly ridiculous.

I disagree that what is happening is what he wanted to happen. It just doesn't make sense.

We won the "wars" in Iraq and Afghanistan, what we lost was the rebuild.

Again, we easily won the wars, what we lost was the peace.

Putin hasn't even won his war yet.
How do you figure? The Taliban controlled Afghanistan when we got there. The Taliban controls Afghanistan now. Where is the win?

Winning and losing is determined by the final outcome. Nobody can say we wanted these results.

Again, we won the conquest part, lost the peace part. We occupied, put in our own governments, then pissed it away.

Winning or losing the conflict, yes, and right now both conflicts are still ongoing, in a Clauswitzian way.

You clearly do not comprehend the notion of winning and losing. In the real world, not everyone gets a participation trophy. The reason it's important to at least admit it, is so we don't repeat the same mistakes. Sadly, with folks like you making excuses, we probably will repeat those mistakes again and again.

You clearly don't understand viewing a conflict from a Clauswitzian standpoint, nor breaking down the conflict into phases.

You have your view, and everything has to fit it like a neat little package.

The conflict ended when we left. That is the final phase. You just make excuses for whatever reason to deny the truth of it. Sad.
