U.S. To Iran: DON'T TRY IT...

This is one of those situations where sabres get rattled and talk is easy.

Iran will back down or just close their 10 miles of the straight. Ships will still be able to use it. The 5th fleet will hang around like an attack dog. End of story.

The U.S. is the aggresssor. Iran is not. And how many nations has Iran invaded lately? And how many has the U.S. invaded? The U.S has slaughtered far more innocent men, women & children in recent years than Iran has. That's not even close.

You are a hopelessly ignorant shit to even ask those questions. Why not move your anti-American ass over to Tehran and ask for citizenship?

Unkotare, I guess he didn't want to answer your questions.

.

Iran sees an incredibly weak president who will let them do anything they want.

Turn it over to obama he could stop Iran by telling them pretty please don't do it

Yeah..he's been known to do that..so often.

Like when the Somalia pirates kidnapped an American captain.
Like when Osama Bin Laden was hiding out in a Pakistani mansion.
Like when Gaddafi threatened to slaughter his own citizens.

And that "Pretty Please" came with a bullet on top.

:D

Not sure that matters.

Sure it does.

Does Iran have any reasonable claim to block this oil route?

I think they believe they do. Do we believe we have the right to block routes in our Gulf?

I believe I won the powerball. Without a winning ticket, my belief is useless. I have opposed war with Iran, but this is a clear act of aggression. Oil, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, is a strategic asset. This country would be brought to it's knees in a very short time without oil. It would be one thing if we were invading a country to take their oil, but this is a rogue nation that is blocking other nations that want to trade from transporting their oil.

If they are stupid enough to try it, I hope the Navy blows them out of the fucking water. If that leads to war, then Iran picked the fight.

To answer your question, we have a right to block the Gulf to prevent a hostile nation from putting nukes 98 miles off of our shore.

Its not about oil. It's about Israel. If we threw Israel under the bus, it would make Iran, et. al most jubilant and we would have whatever we wanted. My prediction is that if Obama is reelected, he will try to do just that!

Does the Hormuz Oil Route belong to Iran?
It's considered international waters but this wouldn't be the first time US forces have fought with Iran over the strait. There was a one day battle back in 88. If Iran closed the strait, it would force shippers to take longer, more expensive routes that would drive oil prices higher. Oil from Iraq and Kuwait would have to be trucked overland to Saudi Ports on the Red Sea as would some Saudi oil. 17% of the worlds oil supply goes through the Strait.

Hmmm...seems like it would be a lot easier to just sink every ship with an Iranian flag
Easier, yes. I don't know if that would be the best course. In 1988 when Iran mined the gulf, US war ships escorted tankers from Kuwait through the straits. A US war ship was hit by mines and we retaliated. The Iranians agreed to a cease fire and the US navy removed the mines. If the Iranians are serious about this threat, which I doubt, this could go the same way as 1988. Since we have only had combat troops out of Iraq for a few weeks, we are certainly not looking to increase our military involvement in the region. The Iranians certainly know this but they also know that the US might well respond by hitting their fledgling nuclear weapons development. My guess is that this is all a lot hot air.

by 2020, the US Navy will be running on 50% bio fuel. yep, that's right, green as a Democrat. Calm down, the military is taking its time in weeing off fossil fuels, but have we the people done the same??? nope. Too many hard ass Republicans too stupid to make the leap, and in bed with big oil.

Hold up there Jethro. Let's not forget that Obama has recieced more money from BP than any other politician in washington.

If only we drilled for our own oil here in America

We could do that and i support it. But it wont solve our problems. We just need too much of the stuff.

There is a fix for that too.... its called 'nukular' energy.

OK, nuclear energy.

BS.

Nuke will power your home but not your car....petroleum does that.

Nuke would replace coal....there are comparatively few oil burning power plants in the US.

Good idea on Nuke...but it has nothing to do with the primary uses for oil from the Middle East.

That would be 'Komrad Obama, The Socialist' that you're referring to?
