Unintended Consequences of Banning Abortion

If that were true, why do couples have to wait months and even years to adopt a baby? That's what happened to my cousin and her husband. After a few years of waiting for a white baby, they finally adopted a very young girl from Guatemala. And where do you get this idea that all 900,00 non-aborted babies will be crowding our adoption agencies. Do you not remember what you posted in the OP?
The main reason couples wait for adoption is the specifications new parents put on the adoption. The more exacting the parent is, the longer the wait. Most parents have requirements, a boy or girl, a newborn, an older infant, or an older child. Then there is race, white, black, Hispanic, etc. And of course the health of the child then the history of parents, color of hair and eyes, resemblance to the new parents, etc...

You dare use the Biden admin excuse? So 6,000 rapes would be okay because it was out of 900.000 attempted rapes? 6,000 murders okay because it was out of 900,000 attempted murders? Dems are some sick puppies.
I didn't mention rape in my post.

Bullshit. My cousin and her husband would have taken just about any American baby. You think they were standards were so critical they would choose a baby from a different country over an American baby?

The fact of the matter is there aren't enough American babies to go around. The only kids that are stuck in foster homes are troubled kids, older kids or both. And we're not going to be flooded with hundreds of thousands of babies every year because of abortion laws. A good percentage of people will start being more cautious in their activities and those that don't will still be able to travel to a leftist or purple state that has loose or no requirements.

The purpose of an abortion is to correct a mistake, a woman forgets the contraceptive, is not using it properly, it is loss in heat of moment, or the contraceptive fails. The birth control pill is only 90% effective. When used correctly with spermicide, a diaphragm or cap is 92%. The rhythm method at best is only 76% effective, and since condoms get lost or break there is no way of knowing how effective they are. Even if the woman does everything right there will still be unintended pregnancies which is the reason for abortions.

The idea that women use abortion as a substitute for birth control is completely false. Abortions are are often painful nor or they free. Substituting abortion for birth control makes about as much sense as substituting tooth extractions for brushing and flossing.
Your own post is contradictory. At the end you say that the idea that women use abortion as a substitute for birth control is completely false. And yet in your very first sentence you say the purpose of an abortion is to correct a mistake. In other words, they use it as a substitute for birth control. The fact that men are now running out and getting vasectomies is proof that these people WERE using abortion as a substitute for birth control and are now changing their method of birth control from abortions to vasectomies. That's a good thing.

There are a number of unintended consequences of overturning Roe v Wade
  • Requests for vasectomies and tubal ligation have increased significantly in the Abortion Banned states, as much as 900% in some areas.
  • The morning after pill is running in short supply as women in banned states are buying up local supplies
  • The FDA made shipment of abortions pills through the mail legal opening the way for mail order buying.
  • Producers of the abortion pills are increasing inventories preparing for increased demand.
  • 6 states have started funds to help the poor travel to states that offer abortion services
  • Planned Parenthood now has a 300 million dollar fund to assist low income women get abortions
  • Over 30 major corporations including Amazon, Starbucks, and Microsoft have announced they will pay for travel for employees and families to get an abortion.
  • Doctors in the banned states report large numbers of requests for birth control pills, and other types of contraception.
  • Interviews with women in banned states indicate women will begin paying more attentions to contraception and use the day after pill.
It is looking more like the the hundreds of thousands of unwanted babies birthed by women under threat of arrest will be far less than the right anticipated due to more attention to contraception, the day after pill, use of abortion pills, increased sterilization, and travel assistance to abortion clinics from a number of sources.

Abortion rules per country[edit]

Almost all European countries offer a time limit in which a pregnant woman can choose to have an abortion on request, without a medical indication. After that time, an abortion cannot be performed anymore on request, and a doctor must confirm a medical necessity.

CountryTime limit for abortion on requestExceptions and remarks
Austriathree months (= 13 weeks)Later abortions possible in cases of: serious danger for the psychological or physical health of the pregnant woman; probable serious mental or physical disability of the child; the woman got pregnant before the age of 14[19]
Belgium12 Weeks
Bulgaria12 Weeks
Croatia10 Weeks
Cyprus12 Weeks
Czech Republic12 Weeks
Denmark12 Weeks
Estonia11 Weeks
Finland12 Weeks
France14 WeeksInterruption volontaire de grossesse (IVG) has a 14-week limit. The interruption médicale de grossesse(IMG), for medical reasons, is unlimited.
No minimum age in order to request a voluntary abortion (IVG). A pregnant minor needs the consent of her parents (or her legal representative), or she can keep her abortion secret, in which case she needs to be accompanied by an adult person of her choice.[20]
After 14 weeks, an IMG can be carried out for: The continued pregnancy poses a serious danger to the woman; or there is a large probability that the child would be born with serious, incurable disease.[21]
Germany12 WeeksAbortion is legal only if the pregnant woman has been advised by a doctor at least three days before performing the abortion (Bedenkzeit, time for consideration).
A later, medically indicated abortion is possible in cases of: life of the woman is in danger; the physical or psychological health of the pregnant woman could be seriously endangered by not aborting the pregnancy. In such a case, the otherwise mandatory counseling by a doctor is voluntary.[22]
Abortions on request during the first 12 weeks were enacted by East Germany in 1972. West Germany followed suit in 1974, but the Federal Constitutional Court ruled the law unconstitutional because it infringed the right to life of the unborn. A new law in 1976 allowed abortions only when the woman was physically or psychologically in danger; if the child would be born with a severe disability; if carrying out the pregnancy would cause severe social problems for the woman (e.g. poverty) or if the pregnancy was the result of sexual violence. There were no abortions on request. Today's rules, granting the right to non-medical abortions on request, were enacted in 1993.

How is all of this "pro-life"? It all just creates more death.

I think the number of babies put up for adoption due to the banning of abortion is going to be a lot less than people think. The total population of all states that banned abortion is about 85 million out 330 million or 25% of the population of the country. The total number of abortions performed in medical facilities or under their care was 679,000 in 2019. Thus we would expect 25% of those abortion to banned or 169,750. In South America only 9% of women who were denied an abortion put their babies up for adoption. In some other countries the percentage is 10% to 11%.

Assuming there are no out of state abortions and no at home abortions via the abortion pill, we should expect no more than 17,000 babies put up for adoption due to the abortion ban. The actually number will only be a fraction of this number because we know that there will be a lot of out of state abortions as well at home abortions. It would not surprise me if there were only 5,000 or 6,000 additional babies put up for adoption in the country.

There are actually many exceptions such as risk of injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman or any existing children of her family. And with ease of travel between EU countries there is very little limitation on abortion.

The exceptions are listed in the chart, Dumbass. They are more restrictive than what most US States will have.

No, using abortion as a substitute for birth control means using it in place of birth control. These Women are not using abortion in place of birth control but rather using it when birth control fails.

I assumed you were talking about all the black criminal who will show up in 15 years! It's well accepted that Roe v. Wade stopped the last crime spree, which had worse crime stats even than now, which is saying something.

Oh please. These women hadn't used birth control at all. What a ridiculous argument.
51% of women that get abortions used birth control in month they became pregnant. Another 25% tried to control pregnancy by less effect means such as the rhythm method and penis pullout. Very few abortions were due to those that were not trying prevent to pregnancy.
