Unintended Consequences of Banning Abortion

Oh please. These women hadn't used birth control at all. What a ridiculous argument.
And this is the lie that conservatives will continue to propagate in an effort to ‘justify’ violating a woman’s right to privacy – more rightwing misogyny, more rightwing vilification of women, more rightwing attacks on women; lying about abortion being the sole purview of ‘immoral’ women who are ‘reckless and irresponsible.’

51% of women that get abortions used birth control in month they became pregnant. Another 25% tried to control pregnancy by less effect means such as the rhythm method and penis pullout. Very few abortions were due to those that were not trying prevent to pregnancy.
You can only get pregnant 5 days a month (approximately). If you’re getting pregnant by accident you’re either not trying very hard to not get pregnant or you’re stupid.

The Issue is you’re killing a living being it has zero to do with choice

Even taking your figures as facts, there are many, many people who use abortion as a method of birth control. Far tooooooooooo many.

I don't understand this right to privacy thing. What does that even mean? You guys just follow along with the lines that the borg collective feed you. First it was a woman has the right to do whatever she wants with her own body, including terminating her pregnancy. Now that she doesn't have that right anymore (in some areas) she has a right to privacy? Again, what does that mean? Yes, people, including women, have a right to their medical files being private. So what? How does that give a woman the right to terminate a pregnancy in an area where it is against the law? If a woman has the right to do what she wants with her own body, does she have the right to commit suicide? Isn't suicide against the law? Does she have the right to murder her husband, if she wants to keep in private? After all, she has a right to privacy, remember?

He keeps bringing up the right to privacy. What right to privacy? WTF does abortion have to do with privacy?

Where was my right to privacy when I didn't have health insurance that I lost thanks to Commie Care, and then they started to keep my income tax refund? Where was workers right to privacy if they took the vaccine or not, and then lost their job if they didn't get it? When the F did the commies ever care about a right to privacy then?

Agreeing with someones ”right to privacy” is an easier sell then the “right” to kill another human being before it’s born.

Determining when it is safe to have sex without getting pregnant is one least effective methods of birth control particular in women who have variable cycles. . A 2020 study found that just 12.4% of respondents had a 28-day menstrual cycle, while 87% had cycles ranging from 23–35 days. Even among people with a 28-day cycle, the typical ovulation range varied by up to 10 days.

That's fair but you should have some idea. Again if you really dont want get pregnant you'll know when the 10 day window is and you can be extra careful inside it. Birth control is extremely effective when you use it as prescribed. IE always take it. I'll bet people start being much more careful in states that they cant just kill their unborn child because they got pregnant when it was inconvenient.

The rhythm method has proved to by one of the least effective methods of birth control, 78% when done correctly which is rare. For most women in practice it is only 50% effective.

So what about women who practice both? The timing method and BC pills as a backup just in case they were wrong.

I didnt say you should only use when the window of fertility as your method of birth control. Stop being so obtuse. But if you know when your window is you certainly can be more careful cant you? How you get pregnant isnt a mystery, and there are a myraid of ways to ensure you dont get pregnant. So either you're not trying or youre stupid if you get pregnant by accident.

The problem is that window is not fixed. It can move as much 5 days in either direction. And for women whose period is variable, it is worthless.

The pill is about 90% effective and a diaphragm with spermicide is even more effective. However there is no foolproof birth control except abstinence. Diaphragms have to be fitted properly and spermicide have to be applied property. The right kind of birth control pills have to used and missing the pill can cause problems. For couples who seldom have sex, the probability of pregnancy is low but for those who have sexual intercourse nightly, the probability is high event with birth control.

All of the above assumes everything is done correctly even in the heat passion. If a mistake is made, the first alternative should be the morning after pill, presuming it's available. Next medical abortion done at home within the first ten weeks with the abortion bill. Lastly, a surgical abortion or giving birth.

Again. No one is saying that should be your only form of birth control. I think you have reading comprehension problems.

You are only about 9% points off. It's 99% effective so long as you take it every day. And if you really dont want to get pregnant one would assume you would.

"Birth control pills are a type of contraception that is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy when taken consistently every day. The pill contains hormones that regulate menstruation, lower the risk of ovarian and uterine cancers, improve acne and treat endometriosis."

The 90% is not a lab study but real life usage where women forget to pickup their the pills at pharmacy, forget to take them, lose them, or have medical problems using them. Birth control pills can cause problems for women who smoke and over 35, overweight, or have to take certain types of medicine.

That’s not trying or being stupid. If you take the damn pills it’s 99% effective. If you never take them its 0% effective but that’s on you not the birth control method.

And if everyone took pills exactly as they should and don't have medical conditions that prevent them from doing so and they never make a misstate, then the need for abortions almost goes away. Unfortunately, humans are not perfect and shit happens. Thus, the backup is the morning after pill, the abortion pill, or surgical abortion.

However in states that live in the19th century and ban abortions, a women still has a choice. They can get the hell out of these states and live in the 21st century where women have rights and they are valued higher than a fetus.
