Uh, what active duty Army units were ever sent to the border? Every one you referenced were National Guardsmen, with the LA riots being the California Nation Guard deployed in support of law enforcement.

OK, to be fair there were some Active Duty Marines involved in the LA Riots in 1992.

Of course, that was requested by Governor Pete Wilson, who himself was a Marine. But yes, all the other cases only involved the National Guard.

I guess the US army is running low on recruits, so they have to hire more.

This is more or less a rerun of "McNamara's morons", where US army threw mentally ill men into the Vietnam war with catastrophic results.

What comes next? Paraplegic recruits in flying wheelchairs?

Similar story in Europe nowadays where they are lowering their standards more and more because they lack able bodied men.
