Since Vietnam the Troops are subject to court martial if they call a mortar or artillery strike that kills civilians while WW2 rules still apply about air strikes killing civilians. The ironic lesson is that combat Troops are better at determining the enemy than the idiots who run the air combat missions. We still haven't learned a thing from Vietnam.

Not particularly. The truth, however, is that I'm not. Neither are you, or any other innocent civilians. If we were, then 9/11 was a legitimate military action against the United States and I don't think anybody is making that claim.

Yes, and Truman was a bad guy for ordering the unnecessary vaporization of hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese civilians. Killing innocent people doesn't suddenly become good because you think you're doing it for a good cause, or because "we" did it or if we have nice little catch phrases like "war is hell." Killing innocent people is always wrong and always a crime against humanity.
