I do not have time to watch a video, but "liberals" have not abandoned principles because liberalism is all ABOUT principles.

What has actually occurred is that identity politics has replaced liberalism as the guiding force of the left, and people are stuck in a pattern of conflating left with liberal. Identity politics actually represents the human condition at its very most primitive state -- the tribe -- and considering the jack-booted authoritarianism behind it, needs to be understood as something entirely different than liberalism.
