Republicans have only maintained control of the House via agressive gerrymandering. The've lost the overall popular vote for Congress too. The Republican Party is the party of old rural white men, and even in the rural areas of America, towns and cities are growing larger, and the urban vote supports Democratic policies and workers' rights.

Trump is fighting against non-white immigration because his radical evangelical, white base, is easily frightened into believing that their rights are under assault.
