Voters in Poll Prefer One-Party Control of White House, Congress

01 May 2013

<snip>

The survey by Hamden, Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University showed 48 percent of voters saying they want the same party in charge of both the executive and legislative branches, while 43 percent said they wanted political power divided. The Democrats currently control the White House and the Senate while the Republicans hold a majority in the House.

Voters who said they were independents favored divided government, 53 percent to 35 percent.

By a 41 percent to 37 percent margin, voters said they would support a Democratic congressional candidate over a Republican nominee. Democrats would need a net pickup of 17 seats to win back the House.

It's not a surprise that people would choose dictatorship. They choose dictatorship all over the world. They just want a nice dictator.

Its horrible enough with the two incompetent parties splitting power in the house and senate. Look no further than than this admin and the last admin when they controlled the wh, house, and senate, to have an idea of why we're heading into the abyss.

No one party should be in control of the government. That's what despotism is. Democrats like despotism. They just want their own despot.

The school system has been amazingly successful in preparing folks for a monarchy.

if one party or the other is unwilling to adapt to the new realities they will eventually be voted out of power ... a real brainer.

That's awful. Checks and balances are one of the most important tenets this country was founded on. Fortunately no party stays in complete power too long before getting checked and getting some of their crazy laws reversed. Obama only had 2 years. Bush had 6 years but then shoot, that led to a freakin black President :lol:. Hopefully this country will always remain pretty moderate.

The reality is people are lazy and want others to pay for their lifestyle. They vote those into power who will give them the most free stuff. Unfortunately, the money eventually runs out, and then revolution happens with the inevitable descent into dictatorship.

Don't believe a word I just wrote, but by all means go crack a history book. They've been writing about that cycle for centuries and examples go all the way back to before the Roman Empire.

Yup. The average life of a Republic is around 250 years.

Happened to the Romans and all down through history.

Hell. Could happen here as well.

No, based on what I have seen it WILL happen here. The question is whether we get a benevolent dictator or a tyrant.
