The federal appeals court vacated part of a ruling that cleared 5 West Virginia cops on quantified immunity.

They're being sued by the family of a man the police killed.

It will be interesting to see how this ends.

Meanwhile even federal judges in West Virginia are disgusted with the abuse by the police.

Wonderful. I'm in agreement with you. Lets legally work towards Improving the quality of our police officers. Lets work towards hiring people and training them so that they will treat people of color more fairly.

Now that many of the problems have been once again brought to light, the first place to start is at the top. The mayors and governors and legislatures of these cities AND the police Unions.
bad cops have been protected though the agreements they have made. After we clean out the top layer we can work our way down the line.

But I think we are all in agreement that defunding the police department and demonizing the every day rank and file officer is a moronic and knee jerk reaction.

It is for sure, if you give some group rights and privileges nobody else has, they will be used. It looks like they are overused in many instances.

Interesting. People are frustrated that things like this take this long.

Its taken a long time because the City planners of your Chicago's, Los Angeleses and Minneapolises have been happy to go along getting huge donations from the police unions year after year. Why would they push for real reform and transparency. Its the same Democrat leaders losing control of their cities who lost control of their police departments.. and now they themselves turn around and criticize the departments they are largely responsible for.

Can the cop as an individual sue a perp that causes bodily harm?

Only if the perpetrator is still here of course.

God bless you always!!!

P.S. What too many people do not think about is what leads cops into being so force full to begin with? The death of another man while in custody was talked about on the Inside Edition show this past Tuesday night and the cop responsible was arrested for it. The man with the handcuffs on was a white man who made it as clear as crystal glass that he no intention of "giving it up" which is what left the cop with no other option but to do whatever was done leaving me with this question. What is supposed to be done to those who have no desire to quit squirming around like a five year old in a K-Mart store?

Now removed qualified immunity for all government officials, not just cops.

I get the feeling you're in favor of the arrest and release with no bail reform, Dana.

The perp stabbed one of the officers? That's troubling
