Walmart says tax bill allowed raise hikes

The real reason was because they were closing so many stores that to not increase wages would have been seen as un American. They do not want to loose more business.

You need only look at the CEO salary to know what they raise because they can:
Walmart CEO Doug McMillon Got a Solid Raise Last Year

They raise their top management salaries when they can. They raise worker wages when they have to.

Do people really think they couldn't give the CEO a mere 2% raise and use the difference to give their workers more money? What's he going to do, quit and work for a fraction of the $? Bullshit!

"Walmart is closing 63 Sam's Club stores — here's the complete list"

Walmart is closing 63 Sam's Club stores — here's the complete list

-- and laying off well over a thousand workers IIRC.

Hmm...evidently someone doesn't have a clue how businesses run.

Hmm... evidently someone can't figure out a simple statistic.

LOL...great, take your statistic to your boss and tell him/her that your statistic is more important than their business. Let me know how that works for you.

That's my point.

I know it is. I just supplemented it.

Bezo's is engineering a retail Armageddon and we're allowing it :(

Well if he's peddling superfluous apostrophes I ain't buyin'. :eusa_snooty:

The statistic is about a third party. It has no relationship to my business; I do not in any way work for Mal-Wart. It's a simple statement of fact ABOUT Mal-Wart.

Maybe so simple it sailed over your head.

The Real Reason Walmart Raised Its Minimum Wage

but according to the liberal media, Democrats are the REAL behind the scenes heroes

The 250 stores is WAY OFF......but you get the idea.

Any of you ever run a business with employees? You get what you pay for.

P.S. Walmart is closing Sam's Club stores because Costco is kicking their butts.

......AND, you want to know why COSTCO is kicking Sam Club's butt??????

The average wage at Costco is $17 an hour. Wal-Mart does not break out the pay of its Sam's Club workers, but a full-time worker at Wal-Mart makes $10.11 an hour on average, and a variety of sources suggest that Sam's Club's pay scale is similar to Wal-Mart's.

Not much of a free market guy I take it.

Ok, businesses buy, sell, open, close locations and other businesses. So your statistic, modified or not, should apply to other businesses...so have at it.

I don't have statistics for "other businesses", nor do I care. I just happened to know this one from another thread. I believe it said at least 3802 employees would be affected.

That's got nothing to do with what any other business is doing. Not sure where you're trying to take this.

Oh absolutely, but we do have monopoly laws, and we do have to consider the flip side. It's certainly a very tricky deal. We can buy everything cheaper from Bezo's and subsidize all of the out of work people with unemployment. There is no easy answer.
