The media lost that entire impartial journalistic vibe, they lost that entire ideal of what journalism IS.

McNamara and the military leadership's lies are directly responsible for the Viet Nam War being considered a loss instead of what it really was, and played directly onto the hands of the Communist propaganda campaign to de-legitimize our government. If they had simply told the truth to the Presidents and the press it would have been an entirely different perception of our role there being taught today.
