In this digital age research capability is greatly enhanced but there is propaganda everywhere that benefits as well. How do we know what is actual factual information and what is propaganda? Careful researchers can observe certain key labels that appear on media sites that reveal clues. Words and phrases like “conspiracy theories”, “debunked”, “fact checking”, and “denier” are clever propaganda mechanisms to sway perceptions. There are many more.
Because of the proliferation of social media sites on the Worldwide Web, propaganda is enjoying a new heyday and sites like Google, Twitter and Facebook are virtual stadiums of propaganda. Anyone using the internet for research must have a skeptical eye. There are corporate forces at work on social media that do not have the best interests of unbiased and truthful information sharing as their prime motive.
Be smart when you do research and do not trust information merchants as any kind of final world on anything. Many of these sites are colluding with political forces to deceive the public. Do deep research from many sources particularly sources from the past that are not contaminated with contemporary propaganda.
