Seriously, what goes through Obama's mind when he trashes the people he needs to work with -- and especially when he tells lies about them to trash them? If we use Obama's own logic, it would be reasonable to conclude that Obama wants to maintain legislative impasses so he can use lack of progress as an issue as he continues his nonstop campaigning across the country.

Eric Cantor rejects latest Obama immigration outreach - Washington Times

President Obama tried to kick-start the immigration debate Wednesday with a call to a top House Republican, but his target, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, rejected the overture, saying it was made just hours after the president took a partisan shot on the very same issue — underscoring why Mr. Obama is getting little accomplished in Washington.

Wednesday marked one year since a bipartisan group of senators introduced a massive immigration reform bill, igniting a debate that led to a 68-32 vote for approval in June largely along party lines. Mr. Obama and congressional Democrats used the anniversary to plead with House lawmakers to pick up the issue, either by passing the Senate bill or writing their own version.

When the president called Mr. Cantor, the Virginia Republican raised objections to a statement earlier in the day in which Mr. Obama accused Republicans of extremism and trying to punish blameless illegal immigrants.

“After five years, President Obama still has not learned how to effectively work with Congress to get things done. You do not attack the very people you hope to engage in a serious dialogue,” Mr. Cantor said in a statement recounting the conversation.

Nice excuse for the Repubs - If he's not nice to us, we won't do our jobs. We're screwing over the country because Obama doesn't kiss our collective fat ass.

Sheesh.

Yeah, that's what I said. Not.

Republicans are doing their job. Obama is not doing his -- unless his job is to inflame already tense situations.

repubs have and continue to make disparaging remarks about the president, that's nothing new...

The president has to decide whether he wants to go around attacking Republicans or work with them.

He hasn't yet figured out that they aren't both going to happen.

Not very bright. ... unless he really has figured it out and the outreach is just for show because his real goal is to inflame things and then to go around saying, "I tried but they wouldn't come to the table".

Obama has demonstrated he has no credibility and no integrity. Accusing the GOP of racism and then making overtures is not how business is done. When he gets serious about working with the House, call them. IN the meantime he's got a pen and a telephone.

Obama has been a jerk for years now.

Claiming the need for civility in one breath and trashing someone in the next.

He's been trashing people like me since 2008 at least.

Maybe he'll look back on this and realize that he shouldn't have been so ready with the insults and that maybe he should have forgone some of his partisan rhetorical flourishes in favor of more truth.

But he probably won't. He doesn't seem that self-aware.

I can understand Cantor's pov, but how is he doing anything different and how is he making the situation better?

There are people here who believe that the GOP members of Congress have been civil to and eager to work with this president?

Amazing.

What's amazing is the people believe the opposite. Outside of one or two isolated incidents this is the truth. Remember "We have the votes, fuck 'em"?

So Cantor is holding up immigration reform because his feelings were hurt?

Well no..that's basically a cop out.

President Obama has bent over backwards for these guys.

He's held dinners for them that they don't show up too.
He's held lunches for them that they don't show up too.
He's invited members out for golf and they refuse (Boehner, I think, was the exception).
He's actually attended GOP meetings and was subject to attack.
Wilson called him a liar on the floor.
McConnell issued a mission statement that the number one agenda for Republicans to make him a one term President.
West has called him a Marxist.
Bachmann wished for his death.
Stockman invited Nugent (Who called for Obama's death) to the SOTU.
Lamborn called him a "tar baby".
Issa called him the "most corrupt President in history".
Sessions said he couldn't stand to look at him.
Cruz constantly calls ObamaCare a failure.
Farenhold has called for impeachment over the birther issue.

And Cantor, who happily blamed the Sequestor and the Government Shutdown on Obama can't seem to get it together because he feels insulted.

:eusa_hand:
