Walmart has been self-checkout for as long as I’ve gone there.
All Amazon is is exchanging possession of goods between a vehicle delivery and the front door or in a locker as opposed to moving it from a shelf to a cash register. They replace the transit to the store by doing that part themselves. Just another way to coordinate the purchase.

Over here they give you a choice. However if it's going to be customer checkout only, I won't shop there.

So far, and I have ordered a lot of electrical supplies and electronic devices from Amazon, I've only had to return one which didn't work. It was a lighting control made in The U.S.A.

Oh, yeah.....there was one shipment of hand lotion that was destroyed by The USPS - containers shattered and the box saturated but delivered anyway. I could fault Amazon for poor packaging but the tire marks on the box suggested the problem lay elsewhere. Even so, Amazon replaced the whole shipment without any requirement that I return the sodden mass.

Amazon makes it so easy to return. You don't even have to box up the item. You just take it to the UPS store, and they will box it and ship it back.

I think that's mostly coffee houses, restaurants, bars and gyms. I am unaware of any of the larger merchandise stores being forced to close up, but who knows in places like NY or Cali.

Regardless of our political affiliation, we owe him big time.

I don't think we owe him or he owes us. He's selling products and we buy them. It's a mutual exchange.

I would rather shop in person myself, but the blacks moved in and closed down all our stores. Now if I want to shop in person, I have to drive 15 or 20 minutes out of the way, so Amazon is where I usually go today.

The advantage of Amazon is if they don't have the product yet, they will deliver it when they get it. It beats going back and forth to a store that doesn't have a particular product.

I saw where the local police were looking for a suspect. They went through the self checkout (nearly $50), ran the items and placed them in the cart. They didn't pay. I thought to myself, hire people to check people out and this wouldn't happen. I wouldn't be one to help them out because they want to be cheap.

It doesn't matter if they have a checkout. Thieves will find a way to steal if they really want. Here they have security at the entrance door at our Home Depot. I could never figure out why. Then I was reading the police section of our local paper. What they were doing is going into the parking lot, picking up receipts that customers threw away. They'd go into the store, get the exact same items, and take it to the return counter for a refund.

For that they have the brains. To get a job and make their own money, it's a real challenge for them.

My former employer had Amazon stock many years ago when they first opened. It wasn't doing much of anything because Amazon only sold books at the time. He sold the stock and bought something else. He said until this day, he could kick himself.
