What A Noble Patriotic Thing To Do: Donald Trump Launches Hotline for Veterans

It's long overdue... It's a good thing somebody cares enough to address a problem that's been allowed to go on for far too long.

How many veterans has Trump hired?

Why have none of his top executives served our country?

Stupid to waste veteran's time with a number that doesn't do anything except get their opinion on what should be changed and then be powerless to do anything about it once they have the information.

It's better than anything Democrats have done. They were rendered powerless the moment the VA stopped taking care of them. Now they are rotting and dying no thanks to it. You would deny veterans any glimmer of hope in possibly changing their circumstances.

Hardly, it was Republicans that put fort $1.4 Billion in budget cuts that affected the VA and then this screwball comes around with empty promises ginned up as a patriotic response that offers nothing in the way of hope. You're all dishonest as far as I'm concerned.

First of all that claim of yours was rated a big fat lie by the Washington Post (three Pinocchios):

To call the funding in the House bill a “cut” is not accurate. The president’s budget proposal is just that: a proposal. The House bill is, indeed, lower than what the president and VA proposed, and what many veterans groups hoped to see. But the House appropriations bill increased VA’s total budget and its discretionary spending over fiscal 2015 levels. This is more money than the agency ever has had, and the total VA funding has grown by nearly 73 percent since 2009. It is also difficult to see how rescissions of bonuses or pay raises would lead to fewer veterans receiving care.

Second of all

Even if what you said was true, why is the VA still in shambles? Why are vets still dying while waiting on much needed care?

Yes, let's be dishonest. Back in February Obama proposed a $10 billion cut from the Veterans Choice Card program.

This April, Robert A. McDonald, Obama's nominee for VA Secretary, put forth a plan to dip into the Veterans Choice Act's funding to get $1.7 billion for a construction project; a VA hospital complex.

VA budget request for 2016 168.8 billion VetsHQ

If you do the math, Obama and McDonald are (or were) asking to strip the VA program of $11.7 billion. These are requests for actual cuts to the program. Republicans in Congress increased the VA's funding to unprecedented levels, 73% to my count.

My gosh, this is like you whining about how Republicans cost the government $30 billion during the government shutdown. What a patent liar you are.

Get the facts right or shut your mouth.

Oh please, you act so innocent in the face of a Republican movement to privatize the V.A. and the recollection of the Walter Reed Hospital scandal of 2007 and building 18, and the fact that in Feb. 2014, the Republicans filibustered a bill that would have brought benefits to 22 million veterans with their 41 votes.

The Phoenix hospital was a mess because its budget was trashed paying for outside care. Without a hospital, the funds paid to outside sources only continues to damage the V.A.'s ability to provide good health care.

Your lack of understanding about this important subject only shows that if you took the time to learn to read, spell and count, you wouldn't have to come here for pity.

Mind you, the benefits bill cleared procedure 99-0. Democrats wanted to pass spending bills without any regard for the debt, which lead to the filibuster. Funny, how you're completely ignoring any wrongdoing by the Democrats.

I don't need your pity, only your concession.

I'm not ignoring anything, there is a lot of finger pointing to be done about this. You still have my pity however.

This one doesn't appear to work....that's the whole reason for the uproar.

The Veterans Administration Sucks.

It is filled with lazy incompetents whose Public Employee Unions have gotten them protected from ever being fired...fuck the Veterans.

Really? Well, I just dialed the number and it worked fine for me.

Stupid to waste veteran's time with a number that doesn't do anything except get their opinion on what should be changed and then be powerless to do anything about it once they have the information.

It could become a powerful tool if the GOP leadership get behind it. It is a good idea if it connects lawmakers to the veterans.

But, you didn't come away with an appointment to see a doctor...which is the main problem...and I know you didn't for two reasons:

1) You can't get an appointment that fast out of the lazy bureaucratic Democrat Public Union fucks at the VA or really any other Federal Government agency until they know you have your politics correct. And

2) You are obviously too much of a pussy to have ever served in the Armed Forces.

Have the GOP leadership gotten behind anything in the last 7 years besides all the votes to repeal Obamacare that had no effect at all?
