What Are the US Goals In Ukraine?

This is like the old USSR....they do what they like and they block the UN from doing anything.

Time to abolish the UN.

For the record, for folks interested, the U.N. Security Council met and voted on a draft Resolution on Saturday, 15 March. This is technically the first step in any potential legal challage that might be acted on by the U.N. ICJ. Sort of a priliminary hearing.

The draft resolution declared the election in Crimea to be illegal.

The following declared the election illegal:
ARGENTINA
AUSTRALIA
CHAD
CHILE
JORDAN
LITHUANIA
LUXEMBOURG
NIGERIA
REPUBLIC OF KOREA
RAWANDA
FRANCE
UNITED KINGDOM
UNITED STATES

The Peoples Republic of China abstained from voting.

As a permanent member of the Security Council the Russian Federation vetoed the Resolution.

Those are all lies, what ever news or story telling agency you got them from is making a fool of you for believing them.

On February 22 and 23 a rump parliament in Kiev consisting of 328 MPs out of a total of 450 elected representatives replaced a democratically elected president without complying with established impeachment procedures and without review by the Constitutional Court and in violation of Article 111 of the Ukrainian Constitution.

The illegal coup was immediately praised as a return to democracy by those who have recently brought democracy to Iraq, Libya, South Sudan, and Syria.

Pro-US coup in Ukraine

Are you ready to send in US ground troops to overturn the vote of the Crimean people because obama doesn't like the outcome?

Most enforcement comes in the form of specific economic sanctions. You seem to lazy to go the the UN site and find out how all the sanctions work and are working all over the world to force countries into compliance with international laws and UN Resolutions such as 2127 against The Central African Republic.

He need not go to the UN website because what you are saying is pure bullshit.

.

He certainly has the right to be as uninformed and ignorant of world politics as you. It's a free country. It's just more fun and educational to debate and conversate with folks who are not to lazy to look stuff up, maybe do some research, check out some links or suggested sites and know some stuff about some stuff. It gets boring debating people who just think stuff up in their heads or work from something they heard on the radio or TV from some media talker person.

what's boring it watching you repeat bullshit over and over. There is no body of international law that all countries must follow--------if you think there is, then post a cite to where it can be found.

UN resolutions are not binding on anyone. The UN has no enforcement power. All a UN resolution does is say "we don't like what you are doing, naughty naughty, now please stop"

You might want to tell that to the North Koreans.

Crimea self defense force. What a load of horse shit. It's Russian military rebranded to look like home grown people. The oldest trick in the book, and some suckers still fall for it.

Where were you when Slobodan Milosevic needed your expert legal mind.
Indicted May 1999
Captured and Arrested April 1, 2001
Died in Prison March 11, 2006 at the age of 64

Can't help Milan Babic. That powerless U.N. court sentenced him to 13 years in prison for committing international crimes. He didn't have to serve the full 13 years. Arrrested and quickly sentenced after a guilty plea on 27 Jan 2004 they found him hanging in his British cell on 5 March 2006.

There is still time for Milan Martic. He was captured and convicted June of 2007. Once again the powerless U.N. international court overstepped it's authority and sentenced him to 35 years in prison. He is serving his time in an Estonian prison so there is still plenty of time to inform those Estonians that the U.N. court has no power to enforce international laws.

To Rabbi,
You would be funny if you were standing on a corner yelling this stuff. But that you really believe it is a sign of just how gullible the American public is.

Seriously, leave the western news alone and look for REPUTABLE outlets. By the way, how was it you determined they were Russian Military, did you see them ?

Seriously, leave the western news alone and lok for REPUTABLE outlets.

Having someone who is falling for the same Soviet era tricks tell me to look for reputable news outlets might be the funniest thing I heard today.
Go back and read some history, sonny.

He is just a jingoist and warmonger . He doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. He gets sexually aroused when he sees caskets arriving at Dover AFB.

You're a despicable jew-hating worthless piece of shit. Then again, you did vote for Obama.

:rofl::rofl:

you and Rabbi are showing naivete on this one. The UN has enforcement powers??? really???

but I am still waiting for one of you to tell me where I can get a copy of the international statutes that are binding on every country in the world and will be enforced by the UN

laws and courts are only valid if they have real enforcement power. There is no court or body of law that is enforceable world wide.

See above post #391 in regards to enforcement powers.

If you are looking for one giant sized law book listing all the international laws, forget it, it is impossible to make a book that size. Those kinds of books come in specific volumes and usually cost hundeds of dollars per volume. You find them in what are called law librarys.
Your best access will be going directly to un.org, find international law and find Thematic Issues. That will give you access to various areas of international law.

Yo Vern, you forgot a couple:

(1) If they have unpronounceable names they can be bombed by the US with impunity

Curtis LeMay

(2) There are no innocent civilians. It is their government and you are fighting a people, you are not trying to fight an armed force anymore. So it doesn't bother me so much to be killing the so-called innocent bystanders.

This is actually a serious question. Based on statements by the administration, what are our stated goals in dealing with the Russians on the Ukraine issue?

I ask because I havent heard one yet. And if the administration cannot articulate its goals, it cannot achieve them.

No goals, just to make some ridiculous statements and sanctions and show the administration's lack of balls and spine.
