The Republican Party claims to be the party of fiscal responsibility.

They haven't been that for a long time, meekly approving every wild-spending budget the Democrats demanded, and caving every time when the Dems wanted to raise the debt ceiling without bound.

It's one of the reasons that normal people want a new sheriff in town to clean out the riffraff - Republicans who aren't conservative believers in responsible, limited government.
