But just minor ones like the brink of nuclear war ? Exactly what did JFK do that impressed you other than talk--screw Marilyn ?
Well that is up there actually.
1.) Created the Peace Corps
2.) Nuclear Test Ban Treaty
3.) Supported racial integration and Civil Rights; proposed what would become the Civil Rights Act of 1964
4.) Created Project Apollo, which led to the first man landing on the moon six years after JFK's death
5.) Created the President's Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity which sought to end discrimination in government and covert discrimination among government contractors.
6.) Got us through the Cuban Missile Crisis.
7.) Gave his support to his brother Bobby Kennedy who as Attorney General was really the first AG to take on the mob which the FBI ignored as J Edgar Hoover was blackmailed by the mob.
8.) Despite what their father did, both found it wrong and took on the mafia as stated in #7.
9.) Served in the U.S Navy.
10.) Graduated from Harvard University.
11.) Received the Navy and Corps medal.
12.) This goes along with #9 but his deeds in WWII if you read up on them.
13.) He argued for financial aid to underdeveloped countries and urged France to leave Algeria.
14.) Profiles in Courage, which is his 1955 Pulitzer Prize-winning book. (A great read by the way)
15.) Goes along with #14 but Why England Slept
16.) Proposed tax reform which included income tax cuts which was not passed in Congress until after his death in 64.
17.) His domestic program which he called "The New Frontier."
18.) Proposed an overhaul of US immigration policy that later was to become the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, sponsored by his brother Ted Kennedy in the senate.

(By the way, Kennedy didn't want to go back on the Bay of Pigs because he didn't want to be seen as soft on communism.)
20.) He opposed private insurance companies. Oh and guess what they called him? Socialist! *Ding Ding Ding*
21.) His plan for medicare which included health coverage for persons over 65 years of age. The insurance was to be financed by increases in the social security payroll tax. Medicare would also offer basic hospital care for 60 days as well as the payment of doctor's fees.
