I thought it kicked in with FDR's New Deal and has been progressing ever since. At least that's what I've heard and read throughout the years thinking back to political arguments a half century ago.

The right wing lemmings for decades have campaigned on the theme that democrats want to usher in socialism. Well, when? After 8 years of Clinton, 8 years of Obama, 4 years of Biden, when does the socialism kick in and what does it look like specifically when it comes to programs?

Biden's largest achievements are:

• Infrastructure Bill not socialism and disproportionately benefited rural America
• CHIPS Bill not socialism and is supporting capitalist growth of manufacturing
• PACT act - veteran healthcare is caring for vets socialism?
• American Rescue Plan - not socialism and saved the capital markets and the small business engine of America setting it up to be the healthiest in the world

Not exactly the socialist list of dream policies. Even Obama's Affordable Care Act which pools risk is wildly popular in America and used in Red States to a higher degree than Blue States. In fact only one congressman proposed ending it in the last midterm elections. The rest of Republicans have moved on.

2017-2021 Biden was a private citizen. Covid hit the US in December of 2019 and shutdowns happened in March of 2020. Biden wouldn’t join the government for another year. That was Trump.

The shutdowns and the masks and especially the bad vax didn't happen until 2021.

You failed to adequately address my post. Socialists only believe in falsely accusing their opposition with fake charges. Like they are doing with Trump. Biden controlled oil prices by stopping the oil. Didn't you know that?

I think they should be owned and maintained at the LOCAL level only. It’s still Socialism but only at the lowest level. It also allows the local residents to decide what quality of roads they’re willing to pay for.

Then how do you connect local roads into county and state roads and eventually an interstate highway.

FDR's New Deal along with the fact that the US came out of WW2 essentially unscathed, created the most prosperous Middle Class in human history. That was the golden age of our economy and it could've continued until the wealthy capitalist class exacted their revenge and won. They managed to elect Ronald Reagan into office, who gutted our manufacturing base by incentivizing neo-liberal globalization (turning our factories into warehouse distribution centers for cheap imported crap products from China and Bangladesh), and likewise stripped American workers of their rights to unionize and effectively negotiate their terms of employment with their powerful capitalist employers. Everything went downhill from there, for the American working class.

My maternal grandfather migrated to this country in 1961, without a penny in his pocket, with his wife (my grandma) and his three children (my mother, and two uncles). He got a blue-collar job at Bertram Yachts in Miami, Florida, spraying fiberglass on boat hull molds. In just five years, he saved enough money to buy a house in South Florida, 100% CASH. No mortgage. The three-room house had a large backyard, with mango trees, avocado, and orange trees. It had a front yard with a parking area and a garage. He later added a pool. Do you think the Zoomers can do that today with a blue-collar job? No.

Over half of America is working paycheck to paycheck, living hand to mouth. The situation is getting even worse now due to advanced automation and artificial intelligence. This economic system is unsustainable.
