When is SCOTUS going to Federally outlaw abortion?

FFS, Is this the drama club or what?

I remind you that most justices, and this is especially true of the Supreme Court, leave their personal opinions out. For example, Warren Burger and Harry Blackmun believed that the death penalty is Constitutional even though they personally didn't like it as policy.

The dipshit governor of Arkansas can waste all of their tax money trying to find out. I doubt that there will be any change.

Not according to liberals. They do not separate personal opinions from legal opinions...so they assume everyone cats how they do.

If liberals could take away all guns from American citizens, they would.

The problem with you is that you would have no restrictions on guns. No one needs a 100 round magazine.

More Liberal Fear Porn...

...Liberals, you are the ones who said it...so when is the Barrett confirmation going to end up with coat hanger abortions in dark alleys?

Name a date.

Wasnt that the freak out from the left about Barrett? Women will lose all rights?

When is it going to happen?

Dems werent just lying sacks of dirt, were they?

Not going to happen.

Congress needs to end this absurd abortion controversy by banning partial birth and third trimester abortions, allow the rest. Then it is no longer a SCOTUS decision but a Congressional one.

But both political parties takes the extreme position, that is why it will NEVER be resolved, as an Independent I see that the compromise solution is the obvious way to go....., but those partisan extremists will fight doing the obvious, thus it will never get resolved.

Gee no wonder I am a Free Thinking independent........, I get to watch the stupid never ending infighting of America from the sidelines.

The Supreme Court ruled that States can ban abortions after the viability of the fetus. I guess my question is why is congress needed to end this unless the goal is to keep states from going back and forth?

Criminal don't care about that, but YOU want to fuck the law abiding gun owners over it.

100 round magazine is a nice hyperbole by the way, are you that dumb about guns?

Libs, when you lie so fucking much....I just take everything you say as bullshit.

Didnt Fauci say masks do not work? Then he said they do work?

When was he lying?

No it is 100% abortion, where did you get the idea that a Fetal heartbeat limitation was part of the Roe vs Wade?

Viability.

The Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment protects against state action the right to privacy, and a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion falls within that right to privacy. A state law that broadly prohibits abortion without respect to the stage of pregnancy or other interests violates that right. Although the state has legitimate interests in protecting the health of pregnant women and the “potentiality of human life,” the relative weight of each of these interests varies over the course of pregnancy, and the law must account for this variability.

In the first trimester of pregnancy, the state may not regulate the abortion decision; only the pregnant woman and her attending physician can make that decision. In the second trimester, the state may impose regulations on abortion that are reasonably related to maternal health. In the third trimester, once the fetus reaches the point of “viability,” a state may regulate abortions or prohibit them entirely, so long as the laws contain exceptions for cases when abortion is necessary to save the life or health of the mother.

The arguments since then have pushed for an earlier time period.

Did you liberals get a good dose of fear porn from the Comey hearings?

It is a simple question....none of you seem to have an answer.

WHEN IS ABORTION GOING TO BE OUTLAWED BECAUSE OF COMEY?

I believe the way it works is that it would take a Constitutional amendment to ban abortion nationwide. Until then they can become more tolerant of state's laws banning abortion on a state-by-state basis. I could be wrong now, but I don't think so.

I didn't see that before wonder how I missed it. My views have been similar to the decision by accident. :omg:

Then the Republicans are in the wrong here since they want it all removed, which is self defeating. This is a lost cause they always pursue because they are extremists on this topic.

Democrats needs to stop using tax payers money for subsidizing part of the abortion cost, and stop fighting states valid legal decisions about the second and third trimester periods.

The real problem are the extremists of both parties, but the full loser of the debate are the Republicans who wants it all removed, never will happen.

The credit goes to John Roberts. He knows the damage that reversing Roe vs Wade would do to the court and has largely convinced enough of his fellow justices not to do it. It is supported by 70% of Americans. How long he can do that is unknown.

I see no supporting evidence for your claims.

Go ahead and post links to Roberts being the reason Roe V Wade was not overturned and also link to what damage it would do to the court.

What issues do you think should be relegated to the states and way?

You don't want to see any. All you have to do is look at his votes. He was the deciding vote on the original Obanacare case as well as the census case ancd he steered the court away from any election law lawsuits brought by Republicans and Democrats. His opinion in the Louisiana abortion case in 2020 showed he supported the Casey vs Pennsylvania case which supported Roe vs Wade. The fact is that the court has had numerous chances to overturn Roe vs Wade and yhas declined to do so.

Roe vs Wade is supported by 70% or so of Americans. It has been a precedent for 60 years or so. For the court to overturn it would hurt it's credibility as a unbiased observer. Many Americans have severe doubts about it's ability to make decisions in a non-partisan manner. It would intensify the call to enlarge the Supreme Court.

It is self-defeating but this is something that over time both those on the right and those on the left use while campaigning and they KNOW that this is nothing more than a wedge issue. In doing so, they don't have to make promises or draw attention to those matters that they could control.

Never: allallall custom changes in the last century or so have been against births. I think it's a societal instinctive move of a severely overcrowded and endangered species. Disease, for instance, you may have noticed. It zips around the overcrowded world in a flash. Not to mention war or famine.
Any dreadful idea that will cut down on reproduction will be approved (yes, polyamory, marrying your poodle, turning young kids homosexual, women working, whatever form it takes), bar none. Abortion is one of the most direct and simple, so that one will certainly not be changed: that would be contrary to the Zeitgeist.

Can you or anyone think of any anti-natalist policy of the last 200 years that HAS been changed back? I can't. Ideas welcome.

The court has held there is a right to terminate a pregnancy within the first trimester.
I believe that decision had to do with privacy between a doctor and patient, and not explicitly condoning the killing of an unborn human. Which decision are you referring to?

There is no Federal law allowing abortions. What they will do is give greater and greater power to the States to restrict abortions.
