Zone1 White on Black Crime.

Meathead,

You're off topiic. If you want to discuss the effect of colonization on Africa, I have a thread that shows evidence of how whites ruined the continent.

I'm not arguing about this with ignorant whites who don't know what they are talking about.
IOW, you can’t argue against the well-cited article I linked which outlines many ways in which blacks contribute to their higher level of heart disease - more prevalence of obesity, bad diet of too much sugar and sodium, diabetes, less physical exercise, etc.

The report did not say lifestyles and the CBC are not medical professionals.

“Racism is part of the fabric of life for African Americans and is among the causes of enduring negative health outcomes. There is really nothing new or startling in the assertion that social circumstances encountered as part of day-to-day experience influence physical health. At the turn of the last century, W. E. B. Du Bois (1906) and Kelly Miller (1897) proposed in separate manuscripts that oppressive social conditions encroaching on the lives of African Americans contributed to poor health and premature death.

Fifty years later, Frantz Fanon’s classic studies (1967, 1968) examined the effects of oppression and included a recognition of “psychosomatic”—that is physical—consequences. Currently, social epidemiologists, health psychologists, and medical sociologists have extended the insights of these important early scholars by showing how racism generates systems and practices that contribute to persistent disparities in health outcomes.

Estimates indicate that the failure to erase these disparities costs tens of thousands of African American lives each year. As long as the rates of the leading causes of death differ along racial lines, the specter of racism will haunt the United States. The persistence of racial health disparities and of racism in any form calls scholars, therapists, activists, and political leaders to vigorous action.”

“Racism and associated trauma and violence contribute to mental health disorders, particularly depression, anxiety and PTSD, and chronic health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, maternal mortality/infant mortality and morbidity in African Americans. Racism is considered a fundamental cause of adverse health outcomes for racial/ethnic minorities and racial/ethnic inequities in health. The primary domains of racism - structural/institutional racism, cultural racism, and individual-level discrimination— are linked to mental and physical health outcomes. Racism and violence targeting a specific community is increasingly associated with complex trauma and intergenerational trauma, all of which have physical and behavioral health consequences.”
SAMHSA’s Office of Behavioral Health Equity,“Trauma, Racism, Chronic Stress and the Health of Black Americans.” June 3, 2020

“Bryant-Davis and Ocampo (2005) noted similar courses of psychopathology between rape victims and victims of racism. Both events are an assault on the personhood and integrity of the victim. Similar to rape victims, race-related trauma victims may respond with disbelief, shock, or dissociation, which can prevent them from responding to the incident in a healthy manner. The victim may then feel shame and self-blame because they were unable to respond or defend themselves, which may lead to low self-concept and self-destructive behaviors. In the same study, a parallel was drawn between race-related trauma victims and victims of domestic violence. Both survivors are made to feel shame over allowing themselves to be victimized. For instance, someone who may have experienced a racist incident may be told that if they are polite, work hard, and/or dress in a certain way, they will not encounter racism. When these rules are followed yet racism persists, powerlessness, hyper vigilance, and other symptoms associated with PTSD may develop or worsen.”
“On occasion, the emotional weight of racism can lead African Americans to engage in maladaptive coping, such as remaining in denial, engaging in substance use, aggression, self-blame – even in extreme cases suicide (i.e., Black Lives Matter activist Marshawn McCarrel) and terrorism (i.e., Dallas shooter Micah Xavier Johnson). These responses are harmful and lead to negative, long-term consequences.”

I can keep going. The root cause of the problems blacks face is white racism. No white person can or will tell me different. I have studied it, you cherrypicked something from the CBC to claim that since somebody black supposedly said what you believe that your opinion as a person who has never been black has to be right.

But it's not.
It seems that the root cause of black problems is the way you respond to white racism.

"Nobody loves me (racism), I'm going to go eat worms (response)." :(

Just don't eat worms and you'll be fine. :)

The deadly sins of the black community. :omg:

The economic stress is caused by white racism. A sudy was done regarding that.

"results from previous studies that have documented that Black Americans in high status positions report greater exposure to interpersonal discrimination. This increased exposure, coupled with potential pressures to assimilate and to defy negative racist stereotypes, may in turn place high status Blacks at greater risk for adverse health outcomes."
So, a study was done how? By asking someone why they are stressed? Yep, gotta be big bad white man to blame, lol.

I wonder if Nigerian immigrants feel this stress? They are doing extremely well in the US.

The Nigerians who come here are either on H1B Visas or are from well off families. Furthermore there are very few Nigerians here, less than 400,000. There are 48 million blacks. There are more American blacks in New York and other American cities than that. So using your logic, I can say that because a few whites are rich, everyone white is rich.

Stress has nothing to do with income. Stop looking for excuses to deny what white racism does.

True. It seems that most of black anger is aimed at themselves. Of course, they may wish that the bar on right was "blacks killing whites" but they know that such a statistic would be short lived with horrendous consequences for themselves.
Since 85 percent of all whites are killed by another white and most white crime is committed against whites by other whites, your post makes no sense.

I can and did. Your artiicle had no merit.

What about the stress black on black homicide causes Negroes? Colored People are more likely to be murdered than whites, and they are likely to be murdered by other people of color.

Very few whites are killed by blacks and per 53 people per 1 million is a very small number. You almost have a better shot at winning a lottery than a white person getting killed by someone black. But I understand how simple minded low IQ whites such as yourself cannot see the correlation between racism and stress because those who practice racism don't think it's stressful.

And since you don't have the good sense to tie that stress to hypertension which is caused by stress you go looking for charts that overstate black violence. But white on black racism is violence against blacks that is practiced by between 22-70 million whites right now including many members of this forum.

Whites do the same things. But evidence shows that white racism creates adverse health outcome in addition to these things.

Truth. Learn to accept it.

Seems like the evidence supports me. :

Stress of racism can affect health across generations

Chronically high levels of stress can wreak havoc on bodily systems from the brain to the heart, and accelerate the pace of biological aging, according to experts. For people of color, race-based stressors can take a heavy toll on health for a lifetime—and even across generations, explained Natalie Slopen, assistant professor of social and behavioral sciences at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, in a March 12, 2021 Q&A in Fatherly.

For example, she said, high levels of inflammation, found in children from disadvantaged racial and ethnic minority populations, can be a precursor to chronic disease later in life. And research suggests that trauma can be passed down biologically, perhaps through epigenetic markers, Slopen said.

Reducing the harmful health effects of race-based stressors can’t be limited to the individual level, Slopen said. “We need to take a prevention-oriented approach, where we restructure these systems that are unfair and lead to inequitable outcomes across groups,” she said. “So our approaches need to target those broad social factors that are driving these mechanisms in the first place.”

The psychology of American racism and how to work against it
Cover of American Psychologist (small)Racism is often defined as disliking or mistreating others because of their race, but that definition has come under criticism. Racism is now seen as a system of advantage based on race, fueled by everyone, whether they mean to or not, and whether they identify as racist or not.

In an essay published in American Psychologist, Steven O. Roberts and Michael T. Rizzo asserted that present-day Americans have inherited a racist system and undeniably inherited some profoundly racist beliefs. They detailed seven factors that continue to affect American racism and suggested ways to reverse this process.

Hierarchy. White Americans are granted a status above all others. As one example, even God is often portrayed as White, which leads people to perceive White people as God-like.

Power. White Americans have the power to set norms and structure society. This extends to politicians, educators, and even parents. White parents rarely talk with their children about race and racism, which gives White children the illusion of postracialism.

Media
. White Americans are portrayed as superior to Americans of color. Over the past 20 years, the proportion of low-status Black TV characters has tripled.

Passivism. People ignore and deny that they do any of this, thus allowing the system to persist.

Fact Sheet: Health Disparities and Stress

  • African Americans, Native Hawaiians and Latin Americans have been impacted greatly by hypertension and diabetes due to chronic stress resulting from discrimination (Williams & Neighbors, 2001; Kaholokula et al, 2010; McClure et al, 2010).

It’s whiteys’s fault!!!

Nope. While stress is a factor in heart disease, the four leading causes are high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, and high cholesterol. The last three, in particular, are within the control of blacks’ themselves,
For example, the majority of black women are obese, compared t0 34% of white women.

Also, there are studies that blacks are particularly sensitive to salt - a genetic trait.

Finally, stress does play a role, but it’s more related to lifestyle. Having children when you’re young without a husband is certainly stressful, as is having a lower income and struggling to buy groceries.

The Nigerians who come here are either on H1B Visas or are from well off families. Furthermore there are very few Nigerians here, less than 400,000. There are 48 million blacks. Stress has nothing to do with income. Stop looking for excuses to deny what white racism does.
Stress has nothing to do with income?! Tell that to people who have children and a low income, and are struggling to buy groceries and the rent.

She’s a social scientist, the squishiest of soft “sciences”. Even she couch’s her statements with qualifiers like may, can and might. She has no hard evidence of anything.
