Zone1 Why do White People Call Themselves Irish-Americans, Italian Americans, Polish-Americans, etc?

You mean it wasn't the Summer Solstice? I swear I'm sitting around in bare feet with the windows and doors open.

The reason for their travels is a census. There are records of when the census took place. It would have been in or around September.

How many white people in America are from these countries? Because any more, it seems like most of them are born here.

Then we have places like this.

The Irish American Heritage Museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit created by the New York State Legislature in 1986 and permanently chartered by the Board of Regents of New York as an educational institution in 1992. We explore the contributions, history, and culture of Irish people in America, and fosters dialogue and exchange between America and Ireland today. By sharing our stories, we strive to create connections and community between all Americans, as we appreciate and study the universality of the immigrant story in American history.

SCANDINAVIAN–AMERICAN HALL OF FAME

The Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame is an enduring means of honoring those persons of Scandinavian descent in North America who have achieved greatness in their fields of endeavor and/or whose efforts have contributed significantly to the betterment of mankind. Deserving individuals of other ethnicities may be honored with special awards as well.

Through honoring these outstanding individuals, it is hoped that others will be inspired to strive for meaningful accomplishments as well.

The Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame was established in Minot, N.D., in 1984 as a permanent component of Norsk Høsfest. Because Minot hosts North America’s largest Scandinavian festival, which strives to build pride in heritage; and because North Dakota is located in the center of the continent’s Scandinavian population, it is appropriate that Minot, N.D., be the permanent home of the Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame.

The National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame (NPASHF) was founded in 1973 to honor and recognize outstanding American athletes, both amateur and professional, of Polish descent. This virtual version of the Hall features the history of their accomplishments.

Was the thread asking why blacks call each other a hate blacks thread?

If your ancestry was so great, why the hell didn't your family stay there? I'm sure you're quick to say that when Venezuelans come here and bring Venezuela with them, soon we'll be Venezuela. And that would be a true statement. And if Italians come here and bring Italy, we'll be partly that, too.

America is, and should be, the sum of the good parts of every nation in the world but it should not be any of those nations and no one in this nation should be hanging on to their old nationality even if they do hang on to their old recipes, religion, dress, etc. Culture and nationality are two different things. Lose the nationality; share the culture.
You entire post is nonsensical.

Immigrants brought the good and foremost the bad of their respective culture and nations into the USA.
Since the vast majority of European immigrants were poor and thus uneducated and of a low sociological background. The prototype of today's uncultured and "ugly" Americans.
It is by far those European immigrants that came to the USA from 1860'ies -1960'ies - that had a better education and brought "input" from Europe into the American society. Thus making the USA as to what it is today - an economically and technically advanced country. And it is those Americans that are proud or have no reasons to hide or disguise their ancestry.

As for "Hispanic" Americans - the reason for clinging onto their ancestry is simply due to them being denied in majority as being seen, treated and accepted as Americans, foremost by those uncultured and "ugly" Americans.

As for illegal immigrants - you need to blame the respective US government administrations (of both US mainstream parties) that since 1980 handed out "immigration pardons" to tens of millions - awarding them US citizenship, and are until today unable to regulate immigration.

As for your last statement:
Culture and nationality are two different things. Lose the nationality; share the culture.
Nationality is only beheld via a passport - as such if the e.g. US government allows for dual citizenship - blame the government
And every nationality has it's distinctive and diverse ethnic cultures - as such one doesn't exist or come without the other. Therefore an e.g. Sicilian-Italian American simply doesn't share the same "culture" - nor ethnicity as an e.g. Toscana-Italian American, who's both ancestors upon immigrating into the USA in e.g. 1907 held an Italian passport.

A very good friend of mine happened to be born in Germany. And as a 2 year old his family immigrated to the USA - becoming US citizens in 1962. He is as much a "typical" American as any other American born in the USA - yet he could never become a US president. Why? doesn't make sense at all.
His two brothers are born in 1963 and 1969 in the USA - and are "typical" Americans. However all three don't have a problem with pointing out "if asked", that they are of German ancestry. Since independently, their Family Name gives them away anyhow - just like your Trump.

Who's Grand Papa ran off to the USA to avoid a court sentencing in Germany.

Maybe you can petition your "idol" to change his Family Name to an American family name - which would be??? :auiqs.jpg:

And herein lies the issue of a country, who's population is predominately made up of immigrants and thus people pointing out or not, their respective ancestry, due to their existing family name.

The melting pot means all identities are accepted and freedom of expression means that group identity is accepted as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of other groups. Therefore whites don't get to determine what encompasses a melting pot by themselves.
OK. I accept that.
