Why Europe?

There are many theories as to why a continent full of bloodthirsty, inbred, filthy savages should emerge from the so-called 'Dark Ages' and become the dominant region of the world for a long time. Just wondering which one y'all find most compelling. It's a fascinating historical question, in any case.
They stole gunpowder from the Chinese....

Most likely purchased from Arab peoples along the Silk Road.

Europeans probably drink lead tainted water and only a product of their environment.

Doesn't matter where they got it. They figured out it could be used to kill people, and they used that knowledge with aplomb to dominate the last 500-600 years of history because of it.

They didn't have to figure it out. The ancient Chinese already knew that. The Europeans made advancements in potency, efficiency, and range of weapons.

Ship building.

Opened up sea trade with the whole world.

Tribes (countries) got along much better than most of the world and still do.
But they liked to outdo each other.

And they killed a whole lot of people. They ended entire civilizations, and set countries and entire continents back several centuries with their conquests.

I guess we've answered your OP question.

In my experience all races are competitive and contemplative, The nature of the beast.

you asked for reasons, I gave you a couple.

large nations working as one v small nations killing each other, internally, b/c they are not exactly the same.

Darwin: The strong survive and the weak perish and find a niche and exploit it.

The success of the West is clearly based on the Renaissance with the rediscovery of scientific principle instead of the dogma of the Catholic church. The mantles of Greece and Rome were brought forth to modern thinking after a 1000 year hiatus.

At that point everything changed, as did Europe fortunes.

Other regions could claim the same, and yet....

That's an old, largely discredited notion.

the church gave up it's choke hold, while in the ME, a region that was advanced, fell behind due to the islamic choke hold

That is an ignorant statement. You don't get to discredit history by coming up with new explanations 500 years on.

The flourishing of of art, science and political thinking coincided with the abatement of medieval dogma championed by the Catholic church and its faith in only that which supported its theology.

If you look at the European "linear" way of thinking and even the English language
that evolved from Germanic roots mixed with so many other cultures,
this language has become the common standard in both science and business.

I hear and read this a lot, but at the time of the American Revolutionary Era, the main advances in science and math had been French for centuries, at least a couple of centuries anyway, and after as well, and the majority of early American science and engineering libraries were in the French language, were they not? I've visited the Harvard Library and have seen first hand at least partial proof of this fact, and have read it in historical works .

This belief has been long ago dismissed as largely incorrect, and based on old 17th century Protestant propaganda compounded by 19th century 'rationalists' who themselves were ignorant and merely trying to peddle Darwinism as a new social paradigm and social ideology. One example of the intellectual dishonesty is the myth that Christianity taught that the Earth was flat and similar falsehoods:

Myth of the flat Earth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Catholic Church's scholars had also been big fans of Greek philosophy for centuries, so it's also a lie they 'held back' much of anything. One only needs to read teaching texts for Catholics like Aquina's Summa Theologica for proof they did indeed accept reason and much of science as valid, as well as mathematics and logic.
