North Carolinians marching to protest voter-ID laws must present a valid photo ID to participate in an NAACP-hosted protest against voter-ID laws in Raleigh on Saturday.

The central claim among the protesters is that the voter-ID laws disenfranchise certain segments of the voting population, particularly minority voters and poor voters.

According to official NAACP flyers passed out at the rally, protesters must carry the precise kind of ID that they would be expected to present at the voting booth.

Marchers protesting NC voter ID law must show photo ID to march | The Daily Caller

So let me get this straight...
You want people (almost all Americans have some form of picture ID, driver's license, Identification Card) etc. that have to have them to board a plane AND
in this protest march you must have a PHOTO ID.. to march... to be able to just walk up to a voting booth, no matter how many times, without any verification
as to the right (i.e. not a felon, not an illegal, not a wanted person) BUT the NAACP requires a photo id?

Do these people know how f...king stupid they look?
You vote for a politician to spend YOUR money. Isn't it fair to at least KNOW if the voter is who they say they are? I mean the NAACP protest march against
voter ID REQUIRED a protest marcher to have a photo ID!!!

There is no logical objection to asking a voter for a valid government-issued photo ID.

Have any of you that watch/read CBS,NBC,ABC,NYT,WAPO.. see/read anything about this absolute idiocy?

Is it no wonder the MSM is sliding into oblivion and propaganda.

Daily Caller?

Seriously?

Ah yes, when you can't retort with logic or reason, attack the source. That you cannot refute the point of article is of no matter...it's what feels right that counts, right?

What an asshole.

Don't you understand by now that it's okay for them to do it. It's just not okay for anyone else do it. This applies to all forms of leftist nonsense however it rears it's ugly head.

And the evidence continues to mount that ignorance and stupidity are prerequisites for being conservative.

There is a Constitutional right to vote, where unwarranted photo ID laws are un-Constitutional; but the Constitution doesn’t apply to private organizations that are at liberty to enact whatever rules they wish. Consequently the NAACP is being neither ‘racist’ nor inconsistent.

Just like that other rightwing nitwit Stephanie, you’ve committed a false comparison fallacy, and the premise of your thread fails accordingly

There is a Constitutional right to vote

Far from clear...

U.S. Constitution is not explicit on the right to vote, Wisconsin Rep. Mark Pocan says | PolitiFact Wisconsin

And even those that argue there is a Constitutional right, all acknowledge that like every other constitutional right, the right to vote is subject to reasonable restrictions...which may include requiring some form of identification to combat fraud.

Your lame attempt to justify hypocrisy is noted.

Here is the text of one of the flyers used by the NAACP, to inform marchers...

...according to the OP.

With special attention to the last bullet point on the flyer.

Is this legit?

Did the NAACP, indeed, distribute this flyer to their marchers?

If false, then the NAACP and no-ID-for-voting sympathizers are off-the-hook on this one.

If true, then the NAACP and no-ID-for-voting sympathizers must eat some serious crow.

As well as suffering the hearty and contemptuous belly-laughter of their adversaries and the American Public at large...

*sigh*

I'll bring it here.

From the other thread:

Sews....I go to the NAACP about this march, and first thing I see is THIS :

And THIS is what the March is about:

On February 8, 2014, tens of thousands of people will gather at Shaw University on Wilmington St. between South St. and MLK Jr. Blvd. at 9:00 a.m. in downtown Raleigh. The march to Fayetteville St.l will begin around 10:30 a.m. after which we will begin the mass people's assembly on the doorstep of the State Capitol.

For the past seven years, a fusion movement has been growing in North Carolina. In 2006, the Historic Thousands on Jones St. (HKonJ) People's Assembly Coalition was formed under the leadership of Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II and the North Carolina NAACP.

It has grown to include over 150 coalition partners. Each year this fusion movement comes together on the second Saturday in February to hold a mass people's assembly to reaffirm its commitment to the 14 Point People's Agenda and to hold lawmakers accountable to the people of North Carolina.

This year's annual people's assembly will be held in the wake of a powerful push back to the immoral and unconstitutional policies supported and passed by Governor Pat McCrory, Speaker Thom Tillis, Senate Leader Phil Berger, Budget Director Art Pope and other extremists in the NC General Assembly during the 2013 Session.

After 13 Moral Mondays in Raleigh leading to almost 1,000 arrests for civil disobedience and 24 local Moral Mondays spanning the entire state, the Forward Together Moral Movement and the HKonJ coalition will join together once again for the Moral March on Raleigh HKonJ People's Assembly.

If you believe that an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, if you understand that what happens in North Carolina has implications for the future of the nation, if you believe that we can build a moral movement together to save the soul of our state and country, then join us as we tell Governor McCrory and the North Carolina General Assembly, "Forward Together, Not One Step Back!"We are calling on all people of conscience and concern to join us as we stand against the extreme and regressive agenda being pushed in North Carolina. This agenda is a reflection of what is happening across the United States.

Soo, once again, Jim Hoft - Stupidest Man on the Internet strikes again.

Also, from a MSM article:

"The group, led by Rev. Barber, has been leading the state in protests against the legislature in opposition of things like cuts to education, unemployment and what they say is taking away women's rights."

and...

"
The NAACP has called on Republican leaders to accept federal funds for Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act and to rescind deep budget cuts to education and social services. Republicans say the latter would require a tax increase, which they argue would slow the state’s economic recovery."
