1. WORKERS PRODUCE MORE BUT THE GAINS GO TO BUSINESS.

Over the past 63 years worker productivity has grown by 2.0% per year.

But after 1980, workers received a smaller share every year. Labor’s share of income (1992 = 100%):

1950 = 101%
1960 = 105%
1970 = 105%
1980 = 105% – Reagan
1990 = 100%
2000 = 96%
2007 = 92%

A 13% drop since 1980

2. THE TOP 10% GET A LARGER SHARE.

Share of National Income going to Top 10%:

1950 = 35%
1960 = 34%
1970 = 34%
1980 = 34% – Reagan
1990 = 40%
2000 = 47%
2007 = 50%

An increase of 16% since Reagan.

3. WORKERS COMPENSATED FOR THE LOSS OF INCOME BY SPENDING THEIR SAVINGS.

The savings Rose up to Reagan and fell during and after.

Neither will see a raise or promotion. That's an easy one. Rule number one is not to trust your employer. Be on the constant lookout for better pay. That's what good workers do.

You must not work for a living or have only worked one or two places in life. I've worked several and good workers are always rewarded. Why? Because more production means more money to the company, therefore that worker is more valuable to the employer.

I make better money than my coworkers. Why? Because as my employer told me (and others he didn't know talked to me) that I'm the best driver he has. Why? Because not only have I never been in an accident that was my fault, but never been in an accident period in the 22 years I've worked for him. In a few cases, I've avoided accidents that others may not have.

Not only that, but while other drivers hit things like overhead doors, bumpers, fenders and so on, I've never hit a thing, and I've been to some very challenging places. My license is spotless with 0 points and no moving traffic violations.

So is that why my employer considers me his best driver? Partly, but mostly because I don't cause him to lose money. His insurance rates are down for me, his workman's compensation is down for me, he never lost a customer because I had a bad attitude or got pissed off and just left the place with the delivery still on my truck. Our customers really like me because I've been in customer service all of my life.

When you get a little older or experienced perhaps, you'll learn a thing called self-respect. I don't just go home from work, I go home proud of my accomplishments of the day. I go home knowing I did whatever I could do to make our company profitable and dependable. I go home knowing I gave an honest days work to my employer, and he knows it as well.

Our public school curriculum is designed to prepare every student for college when perhaps half of them are not programmed for higher ED....There is a severe shortage of people trained and/or willing to work with their hands. We are running out of craftsmen.
As to the number of those taking social entitlements. This is for the most part not out of need, but out of want. There are three generations of people dating back to the 60's that believe they are owed the largess of others. And there are plenty of politicians who will tell these people exactly what they want to hear in order to get their votes.
