You don't understand why the USA became the industrial pwowerhouse it became, and by doing so, also created the wealthiest middle class on earth.

DiveCon is right, in no way shape or form do tariffs help the country. Rather, they help one industry while placing an undo burden on other industries and American citizens.

And one could argue that you need to learn your history editec, it's because of protectionist tariffs that benefitted the industrial northern states that the largely agricultural south decided to secede from the union in the 1800's. That's why tariffs were prohibited in the Confederate Constitution.
